Light dimming, slightly when turn up to 40%, suggestions please.
Actually im using 8 awg power/gnd cable and Ive just bought another 4 awg off ebay and will get it soon. my amp is ultimate t21400, with 550watt continous rms 1100w peak @ 2ohm, I connected two ultimate t1-150 which 200wrms 600w peak 4ohm each. I had correctly set the gain with multimeter. But when pass the bass tone,(i listen rap) the light inside the car dims slightly with 40% volume, with 70% the light dim is too evident.
The car is a Corolla 2003 with 80amp alternator, redtop battery which drained twice. when i recieve the 4awg, i will take out the 8awg to do the "big three" step for a better overall grounding. my question is, if its still diming after all that work, will a cap help on diming? And what capacitance should I to matching my amp power? I figured out when I crank up the volume 80-90 with the 8awg cable, the bass feels pooopoooo lol. Maybe amp dont get enough juice? DC |
8AWG is way too small for the amount of power your pulling. The Big 3 and a cap will definitely help that, and I would suggest using 4AWG all throughout the vehicle.

as for the bass beat, isnt a cap will help to store juice and feedz the amp for that bass kick?
I dont really want to f*** up my parents car's altenator lol. Maybe another battery can help? yellowtop? |
No, a cap doesnt do that. Research what a cap does for yourself.
And I guess your going to have to deal with the problem if you dont want to do some work under the hood. |
You need a lot better than an 80 amp alt. it probably only does 50 on idle.
Your system will draw 80, headlights 15, the rest of the lights 5. Rear defog needs 15, airconditioner 20? Air comes on with defroster, so yes, air needs to work at the same time as rear defog. So, you need 140 amp alt. No, a cap won't help. |

A sound system is only as good as the weakest link. In most cases where systems are moderate to large scale (lets say between 1500w and 2500w) the big problem is the alternator. You can do the Big 3 a thousand times if you like, it wont make a difference if your alternator is simply not spitting out enough power.

a rated 80amp is max or normal @ idle?
|
Probably idle, I imagine its probably over 100 amps max.
