A little rant on the Bestbuy Screw Job.

So I don't know if this belongs here or not..but if anyone want's to move it by all means, I just wanted to get out this rant.

Anyways, I recently got hired at best buy for a car installer the other day, He was pretty much blown away they way we talked about car audio in my 30 min interview. We talked about me working at my brother-in-laws shop on how he used to do car installs. on fiberglassing, insulation, wiring, AC/DC/volt meter etc.

at this point He said "well...I don't have anything now for the installation bay, I have had the same guy's working there for the past 5 years...but I would like to keep you on as a Seller" yeah that's no prob at all I said if anything come's open let me know for sure. I wanna install and not really be on the sales floor all day.
At this point He agreed and also promised me a bronze MCEP cert and said a position will open up in Hamilton (kind far but still drive-able)
Yeah sure, No prob.

Well this is where the wtf come's in.

I walk into orientation class. It seems like a fun place to work at. well I wasn't informed but they already had a class. This is the second class...I figured it's because I already have training for MSDS WHIMS n such and that's what the first class was all about. okay...seems weird. So as they go on about the store I noticed that I don't have my booklet. I ask for one and they whip me up one.
Okay....again.
Then the scheduling come's around. I noticed that one kid in my class got hired as a installer in the installation bay. But come on..So basically I got lied to? Now this really pissed me off.. Then I look on the second page of scheduling . I'm not even on there.

Wow, can we say "take a hint?" so I figured if there are politics like this, At this point I got up and told the manager I don't think this position is for me. He get's a puzzled face and ask's why? He then proceeds to explain on how I just don't think it would be good for me he Bark's that "I would be a great canidate and good to the job blah blah blah. At this point all I could say was "sorry man, I just don't think I would be all that great."

Well I really was looking for a career in this type of job...for a job at this. Maybe I'll just stick to what I am doing currently.

Anyone else work at bestbuy and recived this kind of crap? This is Bullshit. :stroke:

I bet you wouldn't have that problem if you lived in Alberta, every place I see is short on staff.

edit: Alberta has the lowest Unemployment rate of 3.4%, Ontario is 6.3%

...

I wouldn't want to work at Best Buy anyway...peddling crappy gear for probobly not much more than minimum wage...at this time of year you may want to be at futureshop though they get commission which with boxing day approaching would be huge

I hear alberta is the place to go and never have prob finding job's.
Even with Education around here still having a hard time.

What's it like for the cost of living out there though, I'm still thinkin about re-locatin around there. I dunno. I'm still on vacation here at the moment so I ain't too too worried about it.

Not going to find any place to live for less then $200,000. A normal sized house is double that. Rent is at least $900/month in the Edmonton area.

ya im paying 1200 a month for a 3 bedroom condo right now.... :( not happy
and to tell you the truth the oilfield has slowed down big time this year and from what i hearing its gunna be worse next year. house costs are also dropping here. but i do hear also that saskatuwan is the next big boom.

wiltshire559 12-11-2007 08:34 PM

if housing costs go down by the time I'm ready to get one then thats awesome
