Hi All

I am looking to buy a head unit, my Delco cd/cass/radio fails to read cd's.

I found the Kenwood KDC-MP822 to be of interest. It uses the 3D MASK 2-piece control and display system.

Has anyone heard of any faults with this motorized display? or kenwood electronics in general?

Thanks in advance, Rodney

I've had my kdc-x869 since July this year and enjoy it very much.
No problems so far with the motorized face at all; even in this bitter cold we're getting now. The angle of the face is adjustable which is good. The remote is pretty big compared to my old Pioneer. And only 2v preouts on the mp822.
You probably won't be disappointed with that deck though.

Maybe check out this link? I asked a similar question last month.

Thanks for the replies..

I have an MTX R-01 crossover with gains to bring up the levels, and it does it efficiently, so the lacking of the 4+v preout is no worry to me.
The difference in price between the 2 decks 822-869 (200+ Dollars) i can't justify for the application. If i was going for SQL competition then yes the 869 would definatly be a choice.

The KDC-MP822 comes with a 2 year warranty, and Im having it installed by the shop im purchasing it from and he assures me if its installed by him its covered for the full 2 years, no hidden shipping fees / re install fees if the unit does fail.

Once again thanks for the response..

Actually just a thin portion of the face plate comes off, i believe it contains a eprom chip which is required to operate, when it is off the deck appears as a regular face/off deck.
