Looking for a "clean" Head Unit

I'm looking to find a "clean" headunit to go in the VW. (single DIN)

I cant stand most of the styles nowadays - looks like they belong in a fricking spaceship.

I want to go with a simple-looking deck, with mid-to-high quality performance.

My last headunit was that Panasonic Ghost Face thing - the touchscreen. 2 colours - no buttons - no animated dolphins jumping out of the screen. It really (in my opinion) matched the OEM look in the cabin.

What other head-units have the "clean" look.

I was looking at Blaupunkt's Bermuda - but never heard anything (good or bad) about it. Any thoughts?

I'm looking to run 2 amps, and need AUX input for the DVD player. Dont need IPOD interfaces and Dont care if its XM ready. MP3 is a bonus but not necessary as the DVD player will play it anyway.

Suggestions are appreciated - pics would help.

Thanks in Advance
Eric

Actually the Bahamas and Key west are a nice piece for and have pretty much everything you mentioned.

Alpine, as far as i'm concerned, they're still the nicest looking decks on the market. A few blue buttons, and everything else is black. They still look very similar to the old school stuff from 15 years ago, and integrate well with most interiors.

I really dig the Nakamichi decks. They're supposed to have great sound quality with no frills.

Exclamation

Nakamichi or Denon will give you amazing sound quality with very little of that, boom shabazz lights bells and whistles you hate !!

The blaupunkt decks are also very full of options and features but still have a clean simple look to them. Contact Steve at Smartass here on the forum, he'll hook you up soild !

Thanks BIG. Ya we carry both Nak, Balupunkt, and Clarion. If you find anything you like in these lines I will be happy to hook you up.

Its a very nice deck. Seem to be very easy to navigate and look nice and clean. The other I would choose is the Key West as it has a no non-sense screen without all the dancing pics and so on. The Nak's are nice but to get into a Nak with all the hook-ups and so on its quite a bit more expensive. The Blaupunkt also have a 2 year OTC exchange warranty. Nice feature

Find a older used Eclipse cd player in the CDXXX4 series, a CD3434, CD5444 if you are after a clean cd player without the light show and bells and whistles that won't get rung or blown.

Although it has a fancy "display" the new Kenwood Excelon KDCX890 is the best sounding deck per $ I have found. It has a Hi-End Wolfson DAC and a great pre-amp section.
