Looking for a good 12" sub
#13
i disagree, and I actually run an ID Max in my car. they are unbelievable subs, but despite how efficient they are, 400 RMS is NOT cutting it. IDQ in my opinion.
if you can up your power to 700+ then i'd say ID Max.
and if the budget is $150 you can get the IDQ just under....ID Max will be triple that:s
im' not saying you are wrong, but thats just my experience with them:P

Hi yall,
You probably all get this question on a daily basis but I'm going to start shopping around for a 12" and I'm looking for suggestions. Here's some criteria to narrow down my selection.
- Most likely being installed in a custom sealed box
- handle up to 400RMS
- 4ohm SVC, or 2ohm DVC
- Price max 150$ + shipping (less is better obviously)
- Mainly going for more SQ than SPL
I was looking at the Diamond D3 and the specs seem to fit the bill except that its suggested they go in a ported box. I was also suggested the Kappa Perfect, but I'm guessing they might be discontinued because they are extremely hard to find. So... looking for more suggestions.
Thanks,

yup, IDQ would be much better in this case. are they really <$150 now? my V1s were $350/ea back in the day....

lol, ya v.1's are going back, i was actually just looking at brand new 10" v.3's going for 130 in my town. 12" will be a couple of dollars more, not much though.
v.1/2/3 ...they are all nice subs
ps. support your local shops!!! forget best buy and futureshop! they only carry mediocre model lines anyways. and you will always have better service at a custom shop. and if you want a decent system, more depends on install knowledge etc than simply on lots of flash and big numbers.

ya, can't argue with that.
tckm, check out the ID Max as mentioned above to pair up with your PDX 1.1000.
i have the 1.1000, and i have run many different subs off of it (type X, w7 etc), the ID Max is unbeatable. it and the 1.1000 are both the most all round products i have ever come across. and the best part about that pair, they are both extremely efficient on their own. and less strain on your electrical is always a huge benefit.

Brand new 10" IDQ v3 for $130 is unbeatable. You will not find a better sub for that kind of money. Don't even think about it. I have never seen them go for so little. That sounds lower than cost. Hard to believe. Jump on that and run. I do have my doubts about that pricing though.
