looking for new subs

In a buick I've got:

2 sealed pioneer 12's (supposedly takes 500W each - unsure)
kenwood 550W
crappy 'dual' deck
NO deadening
...and that's it!

I want louder subs now. I have many options. I can take my pioneers and port them, and throw on another kenwood 550W, or I can buy new subs/box all together. I want good subs (2 12's) and I'd like to port them. I've been looking at the Fi Q. Has anybody had any EXPERIENCE with these subs? Or this company? Do they ship to Canada? They are like $260 US, so whatever, if they are quality I'll pay. If I got two Q's, I wouldn't have the money to buy 2000W, or even two 1000W amps, unless they were $250 or less. My kenwood amp was around $250. Would 2 Q's work with only 500W going to each? I understand they'd work better on 1000W, but does it have to be that? I don't really want to sell my amp, I like it.

You should try porting the Pioneers first.

Change your sub box first. If that does not deliver what you want and loud is what you are after, a pair of Digital Design DD2512 in a dog house most certainly will. Hope you don't want a leash for the dog. www.ddaudio.com

Consult with your local retailer

Fi is quality stuff that wants quality/ quantity power

your cheapest rout to louder is porting the pioneers
after that i would add more power. if that doesn't help, switch to a different brand of sub. like JohnVroom said, FI is a high quality brand that needs alot of quality power to shine

if you want a good cost effective alternative to the more expensive brands, mach 5 has a fantastic 12 that would blow your pioneers away and a pair can be had for about $160 cdn after shipping.
a couple of those ported, with a decent amp would cost well below $600 and would probably make you very happy

I will most likely buy another amp that I have and have 1000W. If FI is something that needs a quality amp, it's not for me. I'll give a look at the Mach 5's, what are they comparable to? How do you know they will be better than my pioneers? If they are as cheap as you say they are, and I read some reviews, they'll be in my trunk soon.
