As the title says I need something for my Kappa Perfect's, man they are power hungry

Right now I am running them of an RF301x 4ch bridged too 2ch. I want big power to match the comp's. The only criteria is that it has to have a small foot print Right now my RF amp is under the passenger seat and fits fine with one end cap left off. The new amp will be a direct replacement.

Suggest away!!!!

Would you have any tpe of mesurements to help find the right sized amplifier? Have you checked out the 500bd or 1000bd (or equivalent) models from RF? How much money are you ready to spend? You could go Mmats class d, Us amps class DE, MTX class D

I think he wants an amp to run his components with, am I wrong?

jypy 07-14-2004 10:02 PM

i think it's for Infinity Kappa perfect component not sub so class d is not a good choice. The new Infinity amp REF7520A or JBL GTO75.22x97wmrs@4ohm
12" x 11-7/16 x 2-11/16"

Thanks no you are right for my components

the RF dimensions are:
H-2.38"
w-9.85"
L-12.07"

So it would have to fit within those specs

Haunz 07-15-2004 09:58 AM

Blaupunkt makes some full range class T amps that are very effecient and small.... I'd take a look at those!

Paul Niwranski 07-15-2004 12:59 PM

hm - here is my logic. The RF amp puts out decent power for it's footprint and you have it double bridged already, maximizing power per square inch.

I'd be surprised if you find another amp that makes substantially more power for the same footprint

I'd start looking for a new amp location..

dbEric 07-15-2004 02:44 PM

Blaupunkt doesn't amke those Class T amps anymore but you can get crazy deals on ebay for some refurbs. Even new sometimes. They got for roughly $100US

I would agree with Dukk on that. Unless you were to get two 2-channel amps and bridge them for 4 ohm operation (sick power mind you...), and put one on the driver side and the other on the passenger side, a bridged four channel is pretty hard to top.

But then again, you could probably fit 2 2-channel amps AND a sub box under his seats, as long as the box is ported, right Dukk?

JohnVroom 07-15-2004 07:28 PM

Between clearance and heat issues a new location would be a good idea

Haunz 07-15-2004 08:34 PM

I guess to continue on this down note.... another thing to consider is 2x the power won't even make it that much louder....

But I like the idea of a 2 channel amp under each seat... That's like 2x as cool !!!

Fabe 07-16-2004 03:33 AM

Umm...2x the power should make listening at lower volumes sound more clear, and should let you get a lot louder. Why do you say that it won't be much louder with double power?

Sassmaster 07-16-2004 07:39 AM

with 2X the power, you may bet an extra 3 dB, which translates to not a lot more, since our ear interperets a gain of 10 dB as being twice as loud

Westec 07-16-2004 08:01 AM

PPI PCX-440. The right size lots of power. PM me for more details...

Paul Niwranski 07-16-2004 12:27 PM

A sub box should always be vented. It is the natural order of things

Orion_95 07-16-2004 12:38 PM

I think Paul's brain needs to be vented

MANY SUBS ARE DESIGNED FOR SEALED ONLY.

Paul Niwranski 07-16-2004 04:20 PM

And should never be purchased.

Now this would be freakin Kewl!!!!

Dukk you make sense. My only issue with it being under the front seat is to make as stealth as posible. I am a little gun shy having systems stolen in the past.

I have recently gotten back into the car audio game after a 12 year layoff. This is my quest to make my stuff disappear so to speak.

I still have the reminents of my last Alpine system in my Mustang minus the 2 Apine 12's ported box and twin Alpine amp's . I remember this system as making my ears ring and my heart skip a beat from the BASS!!! all this with cassette.

AHH fond memories!!!!!!!!
