Looking for top of the line navigation/dvd
 

Hey guys, i currently own a kenwood kvt 915dvd i believe is the model. Was top of the line when i bought it but now im looking for a navigation unit with just as good sound processing/quality but with a ability to do navigation as well.

Some other things looking for in the unit are;
Double Din (not sliding out)
Blue Tooth phone connection ability (able to add accessory)

As well, i like the idea of being able to store music on the hard drive that some of these units come with.

i want exactly the same thing and the only answer is alpine W205 or the new W505, with BlackBirdGPS and H701 processor

or any 2 din Navigation units with a separates processor

no navi has good Sq processing at this time

If one wasn't concerned with the 5.1 channel features but more so the sound quality/processing options, are these external units neccessary? I'm really interested in eclipses avn6620 unit ECLIPSE AVN6620 DVD Navigation System with 7inch Wide TFT Display and Dual DVD Multi-Source Receiver AVN6620 | Fujitsu Ten
but it doesn't offer seperate processor.

you can use the H701 for 5.1 decoding or SQ processor with 3 way xover

with the eclipse you can use a seperate processor like H701, 3sixty or Zapco with rca connection

but some of the 2 din HU have optical output , avic-d3, w205 or w505, and you can use H701 or Zapco optical input

why do people want so much in a car deck? dont u guys have a house to watch tv in?

i have the alpine D310 and i dont even know 80% of the features it has or how to work them. I just pop in a disk and it starts playin the video on the screen.

dodgee i have to ask, how hard was it and how much did it cost to pull out the stock chrysler unit from the srt8 and replace it with the aftermarket one like the kenwood u have? must have cost an arm and a leg.

I actually had visions on mcleod trail (calgary) do all the work for me. Was only 1700 i believe for complete install including custom box and kick panels. Audio Concepts quoted me $3500 i think hehe.

I love the deck i have, and i could add a navigation to it but being that it's single din slide out, it hides my beautiful clock that the 300's are famous for.

Btw, im with you, i don't know what 80% of the stuff on my deck does either i just leave that up to the pros and don't touch anything myself hehe.

Thanks very much for the reply, so now i know with home theatre optical is always better then rca's but that's when dealing with dolby digital/dts etc. If im not concerned about those, but wanna add processor with the eclipse deck with RCA, will i be losing out on much? Im not a audiophile by no means, but i do have some nice gear that i don't wanna degrade in any way..

My current deck uses RCA's for it's processor.

with the eclipse and the 701 you will loose nothing
you will gain SQ with the 701

and whathever the connection, optical or rca, you use the 701 in xover mode not home theater
in this way you have frontstage and sub
the only probleme with RCA is the noise, wisssss noise, but if you have a good quality RCA and good install, no problem with that

you didnt like the factory unit?
