Check this out. Future shop has allready begun. The cd 5425 by eclipse should be $349.99 and they are selling it for $329.99. I know 20 bucks is not alot but after a few decks it plays with profits. Especially since we do not make a whole lot on decks to begin with. **** I am pissed!
I lost a damn sale for 20 freaking dollars.

What's dealer cost on it though?
I guess you don't sell Pioneer, Sony, JVC, Panasonic, Kenwood, Alpine, or Clarion eh?

Dosent matter what dealer cost on it is, what matters is that Automobility told me to my face that Eclipse will not be sold for less than sugggested retail. I am looking at Kenwood and Panasonic. So yea besides Dual, Eclipse is my main head unit line. Sony and so forth does not fit what I am trying to do being a higher than average retailer. No point in being like every one else here in Langley. My store is rocking so far seeing a 150 % increase in business in the last month.

Its your business,
but you lost the sale for $20? it was the difference between $329 and $0.. attached with installation fees and parts, alot of profit walked out.

doesnt matter if futureshop is undercutting the price. underdog is right you lost alot more than 20 dollars in that deal. and for the most part when i was at people would come in and priceshop against futureshop and try to get us to come down and we'd still end up taking thier money anyways cause we gave them more then 20 bucks savings. we gave them great customer service and made them feel good about spending thier money. not just sending them to a till up front so a robot can drain thier wallet. make the fs advertising work for you, they have a pretty good marketing machine and its just going to get better (or worse for the small guys) depends how you take it. just my 2 cents but i could be broke too.

It was an older gentleman who wanted cheap. And if I start matching all their prices what the hell is the point. I agree service is where it is at. Again the point of this thread is not where you guys are heading the point is Automobility says one thing and does another! As they all do.

You guys are missing the point entirely. It is not about the $20 and the loss of the sale, it is about how good the "word" of the distributor and it's reps is. (no offence to the reps as I'm sure they are unaware of this). IIRC we had a discussion not long ago about how we dealers had been lied to by reps and distributors, just goes to show that the same old issues will always be there. Again, no offence to the reps in general.
