I just bought this amp and wanna hear your opinions

MA Audio HK-802SX High Current Amplifier
2 x 500W RMS @ 4 Ohm
2 x 800W RMS @ 2 Ohm
2 x 1400W RMS @ 1 Ohm
2 x 2200W RMS @ 0.5 Ohm
1 x 4400W RMS @ 1 Ohm

I believe that those ratings are at 17V.

I have an HK-204SX 4 channel and have been very happy with the output from it no matter how I had it wired up. Those power ratings are listed in the manual without any spec for the input voltage, so you may need to have that extra juice on tap to get full power. I still think they are a good "bang for the buck" type amp, and would use them again no probs.

I like MA's amplifiers... especially thier class D or 'X' amps.... but Id say that rating is what is known as an ILS rating... :hah:

17V and the test was probably only done for a couple seconds at 1khz

If lightning strikes?

So what are the real specs? (@14v)

worldind 08-12-2006 03:33 PM

Hmm... the MA website doesnt specify what voltage the provided ratings are measured at for their high current series amps, although it gives 14V and 17V ratings for their class X line. Have you checked the manual?

Manual: http://www.maaudio.com/files/2003%20...t%20Manual.pdf
No info on voltage.

I have the manual for mine, and the input voltages are not listed.....:stroke:

Is it just me, or is manufacturers being coy about info like that as annoying as it gets?....:dunno:

The credibility factor goes right down the toilet.....:knock_tee

Holy cow, I'm a McKenzie now!....:appl: :cheeky4:
