Anyone know if this amp will run 1ohm stable or not? I know the site says 2ohm but I'm wondering as I can get a good deal on one atm and need a new amp asap. Lemme know! |
Most likely not because it is 1 ohm stable per channel. The max power is given bridged which means the impedance would be twice the channel impedance so 2 ohms min in to a bridged configuration.
I've run my HK204 at 1ohm mono on the rear channels....the HK series is supposed to be stable that low, however I did notice a hefty current draw at that point.
Begs the question tho......if you have a 1ohm load to drive and it happens to be 2 2 ohm loads, get 2 of the amps and run 1 to each coil or driver......:smilie_da Barring that, keep a close eye on the gains and check the amp for heat the first time you try it......:dunno: |
Yeah, I don't feel like tryin to find a second similar amp. Be easier just to change the subs up so I have a 2ohm config. Maybe I'll give it a test run, it is my buddies amp so I'm sure I can try it for a day or 2.

If you try running his amp at 1 ohm when it isn't 1 ohm stable, you could fry the amp.
I realize that ^^ I can figure out if its safe or not haha
Lol. Install it when hes not there. If it frys, tell him it wouldn't work at all. :)
HAHA yea...too bad its currently installed in his car.
Figured out that it will work for me. Just different config. 2 12" Dual 4 subs, make 1 ohm final for ONE channel, well Imma run it 2ohm x 2 channels. 600rms /channel will work great.

awesome.
