Mach 5 Audio

A couple of weeks ago I had a chance to meet up with the owner of Mach 5 Audio in winnipeg. I had a chance to view and get hands on with most of thier product lines and I must say I was initally very impressed for the value that they offer them at. I was informed by Mark the owner of mach 5, that they were going to be bringing out a 15" woofer for $72. This really caught my attention. So last weekend I was able, with the help of mark from mach 5 throw a pair of the MAW 15's in my car in a 3.2 cubic foot heavily stuffed sealed enclosure. And my imediate impression was WOW! My old setup was a eD 16Ov.2 in a 2.3@30hz box off of a PG ti600.2@ 4 ohm. And I must say these are a bit louder and sound good in the process.

Now these are rated for 500rms each and I am only feeding them 300 so I am not able to get alll the performance out of them that I can. I just wish I had more power. But overall am very impressed.

Heres some pictures and a vid for you guys.

The thing with a lot of these new companies is that they put together woofers with parts from a catalog and pick and chose based on a certain price point that they would want to sell the speaker. A lot of the times they do make good speakers, problem is, will they still be around in a couple of years when the product craps out on you? Probably not...that is why a lot of people tend to go with "big name brands" as they offer more security.
Anyhow at 72 bucks each, does it really make a diff is they last long or not? lol.

Yeah...I don't see any posts about them here. But on the bigger forums, I've only read good reviews. They have their own forum as well:
TeamSSAudio: -> Mach5Audio

It's pretty insane that they have an 18" sub selling for $59. "npdang" aka "cheapboy" (Nguyen) will be doing an extensive review of the 4 ohm MJ-18 after the American Thankgiving. Kippel results should be interesting.

Bigbassman (Loyd L.) did a review of the MAW-12 and had some very good things to say.

Specs on teh MAW-15 good great. I ordered one just to do some tests of my own. Test box will be an SQ oriented enclosure...2.5cf ported @ 25Hz, ~24sqin of port. I'll be throwing 1000 watts at it to see how it holds up.

Depending on how it turns out, I may give the MAW-12 a try in a home theatre application. Putting it head-to-head with my Acoustic Elegance AV12 would be interesting. We'd be able to see how it holds up against a much more expensive (and highly regarded) driver.

Crap! Now that I think about it...perhaps I should have gotten the MAW-12 instead of the 15. Because I just remembered that I also have an IDMAX 12 v.3 I could compare it to as well.

Anyhow, I love that fact that they're based out of Canada. I can't tell you how much I hate paying customs/brokerage fees...not the mention the higher shipping rates.
