Mach 5 SPL 15

http://www.soundsolutionsaudio.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=16538

Apparently something went wrong so 4 of the SPL 15's are up for someone to pick up. They will take 3k daily, $330 Each shipped Canadian.

I'm getting 4 myself and running 2 Autotek mm4000.1D's on them. I was going to wall off the mj 18's but from what i hear about the SPL 12's...the 15's should just be nuts. (due to more cone area)

Here are the T/S parameters for all those who are into that stuff.

Fs = 39.91 Hz
Re = 3.70 ohms[dc]
Qt = 0.35
Qes = 0.39
Qms = 3.90
Mms = 250.57 grams
Rms = 16.100405 kg/s
Cms = 0.000063 m/N
Vas = 50.79 liters
Sd= 754.77 cm^2
Bl = 24.398737 Tm
Lp(2.83V/1m) = 94.46 dB

Their have been several reviews of the SPL line vs DD and other spl subs with very good results.

Initial SPL 12 impressions

They dont compare to DD. I do own a spl 12 and it is a good sub, im feeding it a 1000w and it seems fine for a daily but i have had a friend who bleww off his dust cap so we reconed it. While reconing it we noticed NO cooling ports or holes any were on the motor. The DD has cooling and the mach 5 has larger gaps between the coils and magnet which means less efficiency. Just one more thing to add the dust caps do like to fly off!

chubs ya noob. There's a reason they dont compare to DD.. mostly because of the 600 dollar difference in the price tag. And until we do a drop in comparison, none of us can say anything about which of the two are better. And correct me if I'm wrong.. but didn't justin sieze his 9512? I had to free air my SPL 12 in the wall socket before it had any failure. Also, I'm pretty sure I had a couple of bad cones, as the newest recone, as well as your sub both havnt had any issues.

i seize my sub BY playing it way under tuning and alot of distorion. i plug my sub in to a wall also and it laught at the power.

and there is a reason ther only 300 bucks and why most of the loud people use dd instead of mach 5

Ya I know they dont compare to DD, thats why I Gave my 2 cents above telling why they dont compare. I just forgot to say since they are so cheaply made, they come with a cheap price!

Also, the reason mine hasnt blown is cause im too scared to turn up the gain and get hit in the back of the head with a dust cap lol, But I will admitt, it does sound good and go loud for the PRICE.

I guess that must be all a bunch of bull then?....but I've been happy with every Mach 5 product i have owned and herd...so i am expecting nothing less from the SPL 15's....

don't people also blow their DD's?

Ok, you recognize that a wider gap means less flux and lower efficiency. What do you think machining steel out of various spots in the motor (ie. pole piece) does?

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but the coil on the SPL12 is also longer.

well i read threw that fourm and that is decent numbers for a single 12.

with my 9512g i did manage to pull a 146 at 34hz legal.

also with only 1500 real world watts i manage to get my car up to a 149.2 and just 300 watts more a 149.6 all with a torn surround( duct tape over it of course)

when i get my 95 reconed i will do a drop in comparison.
