magnet weight

does anyone know the magnet weight of the JL W7 and the W6?

does magnet weight play a role in SPL? or SQ?

i know the rockford T2's magnet weight is 304oz, is that comparable with the W7?

and how does the the dual 4 ohm voicecoil work...i can wire it so i can receive a 2 ohm load right?

Weight has nothing to do with how the sub will perform.
What is important is the composition of the magnet.
And how the voice coil interacts with the magnetic field.
There are different schools of thought on it though, so there will be others who say differently.

As for the coil configuration it allows flexability during installation, or amplifier choice.

I find some manufacturers will overbuild the magnet, maybe throw on a fancy rubber boot. Thats all fine and dandy, until they underbuild another part of the speaker ie: the speaker leads/connections, poor glue... Part of the idea is to get that driver looking scary, even while not in motion.

You can't "overbuild" a magnet, but you can pimp it out!
The rubber boot protects the magnet from breaking, chipping, which will change it's "GAUSS" strength, which is more important about magnets than anything else. In some cases the rubber boot helps reduce basket resonance.
There are many speakers whose voice coil leads (tinsel leads) are not properly placed, so that when/if the woofer goes into over excursion, the leads break.

Magnet weight on it's own isn't indicative of magnetic force. However, all other things being equal, the heavier the magnet the stronger it's magnetic force!
