Matching Speakers to 15" L7
 

Hey, I am very close to purchasing a set of 15" L7 speakers for my 300, I would like to try to find speakers that can "keep up" with the power of these massive subs. I want good sounding speakers, but it does not need to be perfect SQ. I just want something that will sound good & allow me to crank up my subs without getting drowned out.

I'd suggest you might want to look into 3 ways, tweet, 6.5" woofer, 8" woofer, or a second 6.5". That should allow you to put out enough to keep up with the L7s. Don't forget you need to have enough amp to power them. I'm assuming you'll be giving each L7 1000W each. And at that wattage, I'd think you'd want 250-350W per channel (left/right) up front. You can probably get away with 2 ways in the rear.

As for what componentry/brand, honestly, let's just say SQ is in the ear of the beholder. I don't know how many "normal" people I've met that prefer the sound of amped stock speakers to amped aftermarket components. They typically find the "accuracy" in the higher range too "upfront/harsh".Some people will rave about exotic brands you've never heard of, or the typical higher end commercial, i.e. Alpine/Infinity/Focal/etc, At the end of the day, you gotta hear them yourself, and get what you like. I know tonnes of people that LOVE Focal, but I really only like their higher end stuff that's REALLY expensive, and even then, I know cheaper speakers I prefer the sound of.

No worries. If there's just one more piece of advice . . . a lot of times, the install matters just as much, if not more than the component being put in. Installing the speakers properly, will make a huge difference over a half ass install. And if you're going with a 3 way setup, you'll probably have to add a pod, or cut a hole somewhere. And there will be a temptation to do it the "easy" or cheaper way. Take your time, or pay someone to install them correctly, and get the sound you paid for those components.
