umm... no.. thats not how it works.. the bigger the wire you have the less chance you have of causing your wires to melt from too much current. Your amp will always put out the same amount of power...

I just wanted to clarify that using a marginally small wire in an install is not going to cause the wire to melt, nor is that the reason somebody will use 4awg instead of 8awg (in most situations)
