Just reading through the latest issue of ME and glanced through the Letter from the Editor, turns out that this is the last issue for ME. A new magazine called Road & Tracks Road Gear will replace it..

Here is the story "http://www.m-emag.com/article.asp?section_id=12&article_id=629"

I sincerely hope that the product test reports will continue in the same format they are now!

That magazine sucks now. Too much focus on non automotive stuff in the new products section. No how to's. Most ove the magazine is just a glorified ad for satellite radio. I really miss AS&S, it was amateurish and stuff but at least it focused more on the hardcore sound enthusiast.

I have often thought how hard it would be to do an online zine in the format of AS&S, and I come to the conclusion I don't have the time or knowledge to do the programming side. But would love to try my hand at writing articles for one.

Dave
I have been picking up your magazine at the local bookstore... I am consistently impressed at how good that mag really is. I am also a little alarmed at how many articles you write a month. How can you possibly do it and maintain the high levels of quality control? Good on ya bro, no wonder you don’t post as much as you used to!

DW.. Yeah, things have changed over the past few years at CSR/ME, and I personally miss the old techy style, but I guess it's sizzle that sells. ;)

The same goes for Sport Compact Car. I used to go crazy when the latest issue arrived. AWESOME build-ups, great tech stories and so on. Now, even the Ultimate Street Car Challenge is tough to swallow, given that they don't really tell us what happened in detail.

I guess it goes to show what happens when the Editor changes... as it did with both of the above.

Thanks John... Writing for PAS isn't an easy job.. full-time or part-time... Or for any other publication for that matter...

haven't been keeping up to date on the issues, read pas, the newer rearview is great for us truck guys looking for paint ideas ;)

THats too bad, I just bought an issue... guess I wont be buying another one :(

who cares, all the magazines that were about car audio suck badly now. they all have turned into a marketing channel for manufacturers and rice makers.

but I guess it's sizzle that sells. ;)
Or apparantly not in the case of M.E. ...

Say what you will but the marketing department killed this magazine and will kill Car Audio as well eventually.

PHR, Hot Rod, Super Chevy, MM&FF have all stayed on top of the game for DECADES by specifically NOT changing their issue template.

Change is bad in the magazine world. Readers want stuff to stay the SAME.

I agree Dukk... I like consistancy!

Have you seen Import Tuner? THey hired an art director or something from Maxim magazine.. The car features were so bizarre, a few of the pages didn't even have cars on them, only the models that were posing with the cars.

Now, there is nothing wrong with a healthy woman posing with a car, but to take it to the point of completely overshadowing the car itself... It was just weird...

Sorry - you couldn't pay me to touch a copy of Import Tuner ;)
