I found a guy who is selling 2 Memphis amps. I've never heard of Memphis so I thought I would ask you veterans.

Yes, no, maybe?

Wow, I can't believe mini steve hasn't replied to this yet. He could smell this post if he was within 100 ft of a computer.
It's a "B" brand, the people that use Memphis amps really like them, im not too sure about the subs. I don't see too many SQ or SPL competitors using them. It's respectable gear, not like Thump, etc...

i wouldnt exactly call it a "B" brand. Awesome gear. if its a good deal, i would go for it without hesitation.

As you guys may have figured out......it's been a long time since I was into car audio. Could you explain the different "brands" of amps.

Orion_95 12-14-2003 05:43 PM

basically, you get what you pay for. expect to pay about $1 a watt for quality.

Memphis Subs are very expensive subs...but in this case u tottaly get what u pay for. I know a guy with 2 12" memphis subs in the back of his civic and so for he has hit around 148-149 dbs. If you can get 2 of these subs for less than 700$ i would deffinatly go for it...these subs are the next big thing.

Yep....Sorry I wasn't the first to reply, some of us don't live on the computer Bryce,Tyler! I LOVE my Memphis gear! There may be better but I probably wouldn't change what I have now.I acquired my amp and crossover as used units. They will run harder than "I" can push them! I had only wish that I can aford to change out my Infinity speakers for Memphis. I guess make shure the gear your looking at is not busted or any thing. Send me an note we can talk. Very nice gear, all at a decent price. Their class d's are very reliable and put out nice power for the dollar, and I think their sound quality amps are some of the best out there for the price. I am using some hardcore 500d amps which are the same as the memphis mojo, and I am very impressed. I have seen their mojo subs take a beating and still sound good too.
Harder to find though because they wont sell through internet dealers, so you are stuck paying close to retail.

Memphis makes some great gear IMO. And the support from the memphis team is amazing as well. They stand behind thier product (hence why there is generally a 3 year warrenty on the amps.) They are generally not hyped as much as internet companies because they cost more, but hey you get what you pay for..
