yes actually i am looking to do exactly that, i didn't look too in depth to what that 880 deck could do frequency wise, just that it could be done, (bandpass) but I currently have a kicker comp vx 12 incher running on an alpine pdx1000.1 and it gives great lows, and a bit more midbass than the alpine X type 12" gave me, in a ported box, I am really finding myself to be hard to please, I love love love bass, i am a straight up bass head, but i dont just like 80hz and down, and thats all that really hits hard with this sub, i ran 2-10" alpine S types and they were perfect but totally not loud enough, so i got the PDX and blew them up, haha, so I am getting these 1000watt rated subs which just dont produce the midbass that i need. so i was thinking of keeping my compvx, and running it at like 80 and down on the PDX amp. and throwing an alpine S type or 2 on a 600w amp to give me my midbass only and not worry about the lows that are already covered by the big sub, and then running the rest on a passive crossover system that comes with most component sets, thinking of a nice MB quart component set, right now im running cruddy 2 ways on my decks built in amp, but I want to work out my bass issues first because honestly that is what i care about haha, I like getting shot in the chest, but dont want to have to listen to all gangster rap to get it, and the one sub i have now just doesnt do the midbass enough to shoot me in the chest, and I want it to.. if that makes any sense, I want to make ACDC be heard from as far away as "boyz in tha hood" by Easy E. call me crazy, but I want it and i know it can be done, cuz seconds before my type S alpines blew sky high, it did it for me.

Oh I dunno, here and there you see people with 8s or 10s for midbass and really any hefty 6.5 rides the line between midbass and sub. Our hearse is getting a pair of 10s for bass/midbass duty in the kickpanels Pretty cool, didn't even have to cut any metal

Dukk I'm surely okay with 8s or 10s for midbass. In fact I'm fairly sure I'm going for 8" midbass in my next setup. Assuming they are properly installed and proper drivers are used.
But from what he said, it looks like he's going to have the 10s subs somewhere in the back in the box to do the midbass and that's a no-no to me. I guess some people don't care about "soundstage".

To each his own tho.

This is true. Sometimes one has to make choices that compromise one thing for another.

as I said I am open for suggestion, help me out, I have a few 8" drivers they aren't really high end but the do produce midbass pretty well. in my opinion. I am currently running a jeep cherokee and it has a neat little roof pod for the rear speakers so they aren't in the actual hatch like some models. what should i do?? I will buy what I need, I just want it to sound good.

Spend you're time deadening the doors and put a pair of 8's in there. Thats you best bet. And you have a Cherokee so there is room to do that.

do you have a cherokee, or have you seen it done in one? i was thinking about doing that but wasnt sure as of how to make an airtight box out of the door to make it sound good, and for deadening, what are some recommendations? spray on or dynamat??.
