misinformation led me to Eclipse deck prob.

I have a CD8443 for which I never activated the ESN. My battery went dead so after recharging my deck is locked out by the ESN displaying "SECURITY FFFFFFFFF". check bottom post as I was misinformed that the deck would never lock out if ESN not set.

You don't get it. I purposely never set the ESN.. i.e. I left the deck unlocked... So no one could possibly have the code.
please read more carefully and comprehend next time.

Your an idiot! Instead of bitchin' on an internet forum, why don't you look into your options. I takes less than 10 minutes to fix the issue. The 8443 his a backup system, if you disconnect the power 3 times without registering the deck it locks up. Oh yeah, you must of been too lazy to register the deck as well. You purposely never set the ESN...Do you have something to hide. Think about, the dealer just wonders why you didn't take the 3 minutes to fill out a simple form to prevent such an issue from happening. Maybe you shouldn't by a Ecipse deck!

I don't get it either. Lets say for a minute that the deck was coded and it is doing it's job.....your complaining about that? This is simple, really really simple. You do not need to remove the cd player at all. There should also be no charges at all. If there is ask that dealer who another Eclipse dealer is.
Go to the dealer and fill out a Eclipse Change Of Ownership form. This will register you as the authorized owner of the unit. Next the dealer will get the electronic serial# of the unit by pushing two buttons. He will then get the electronic lockout code by pushing another two buttons. Then he calls to Eclipse and gets the new unlock code to blank the unit.
At that point the deck is unlocked, you can use it and make sure that it s coded with a cd of your choice.

Maybe when you make a post, title it "Help wih an Eclipse deck"...there are alot of people who look at this site, and bad mouthing manufactures will not get you far in the support department. I'm the guy who can unlock your deck...
...I could of called you first thing tomorrow morning unlocked the deck free of charge and set you all the forms. It could of been that simple!

well I guess the dealer who installed it mislead me as I was told that if the ESN was never set it would never lock out. FYI I did inquire on multiple sites as well as searched and did not get a reply nor find the 10 minute fix(I'm assuming this fix allows me to unlock it?)
I guess not setting the ESN means I have a lot to hide...go figure...here I was simplifying my life by not having another item to keep track of.

It takes a decent guy to admit his wrong, I noticed you changed the title of this post. That is an awesome gesture. Maybe I was too hard on you. Give me call, I do what ever I can for you. It's refreshing to see some who admits he wrong, lets work together to solve this issue.
