The little metal bars should be connected from + to + and then from - to - on the back of the speaker. Your speaker wire should be one + and one - for one channel (front right, for example). The + speaker wire running from your amp connects to either one of the + posts on the speaker. The - speaker wire running from your amp should run to either one of the - posts on the speaker. If you find the bars difficult to work with, you can use a short piece of wire to go between both + terminals on the speaker, and same on the - side. You unscrew the speaker post, strip 1/4" off of the end of the speaker wire and put the exposed wire inside the little hole in the post. Make sure the post is tightly screwed down onto the wire (but not too tight to strip the threads) and you are good to go. If you are getting nothing but static, there is something else wrong in the system
