I would use "non" I would get a 2 channel amp instead that could handle the power you require, they're more versitale. But if you insist on a monoblock, the Sundown Audio looks like a good choice for the money.

Rob 03-08-2010 11:00 PM

which 2 channel amps can handle a 2 ohm mono load , with about 500-700watts ?

jalat 03-08-2010 11:02 PM

Sundown Audio because I am biased.

Spawn-Inc 03-08-2010 11:07 PM

i would look at the sundown or DD being that they have the most power, but i don't think thats a good way to look at it.

Rob 03-08-2010 11:09 PM

I dont need 'the most' power.. Im only running 1 old skool 12" kicker solo.
Also, a high damping factor rating is good for running subs no ?

stephenfleming 03-09-2010 12:13 AM

Sundown, I'm with Jalat on this one, I'm also bias.
I have the SAZ-1500D and a 12" Nightshade in my beater.
And I have 2 SAX-100.4's in my basement waiting to go in the Sentra.
Just saving up for a pair of SAZ-3500D's

Rob 03-09-2010 12:16 AM

Damping factor is low on class D amps.. Class A/B (zapco) have high Damping, which make for great SQ and control on subs ! Thats why Im undecided yet ...The Class A/B puts more alternator strain though..

CrazyKenKid 03-09-2010 12:32 AM

sundown audio all day man! check build log they are sexy! plus i think ther is 1 in the for sale section!

CrazyKenKid 03-09-2010 12:36 AM

you are talking about subs right? and damping factor man don't even worry about stuff like that, that is jsut a gimic kind a like pre-out voltage!

you will never hear the difference in damping but you WILL pay for it!

also some more stuff on sundown audio if you are interested

Sundown March Sale ! - SSA Car Audio Forum

CrazyKenKid 03-09-2010 12:37 AM

i also look at it like this! A/B = speakers like components and class D or T are subs!

i have a sax100.4 pushing my zapco RB13.2 and man o man they shine like you woudln't believe!

Rob 03-09-2010 12:38 AM

I probably wont hear the difference, but good damping helps the speakers...

Thanks.. already seen the sales on DIYMA.

CrazyKenKid 03-09-2010 12:42 AM

here give these a read and you tell me about damping factor

dont' get caught up in the damping war! it isn't worth it! your pocket book will thankyou later!

seriously though what are your GOALS?

Rob 03-09-2010 12:44 AM

Ive read alot already on damping factor.. its not only that, THD is crucial as well.
Class D amps are a compromise.. smaller, more efficient and cheaper.

but read this ...

http://www.diymobileaudio.com/forum/diy-mobile-audio-sq-forum/71216-clas-b-d-amp-subwoofer-sq-7.html#post905785

if you look at my sig, Im into SQ not SPL...lOl

CrazyKenKid 03-09-2010 12:48 AM

THD lol

A THD rating < 1% is considered to be in high-fidelity and inaudible to the human ear.

keep that in mind! but like i said WHAT are your GOALS??

if you are worring about the nit pic things are you a all out SQ guy? or is somebody who has a little knowledge whispering in your ear? lol

Denonite 03-09-2010 11:36 AM

Seems like you know enough to choose an amp!

alphadawg 03-09-2010 11:44 AM

You state you want a high DF, low THD, class AB, 2ohm stable subwoofer amp...so you know what you want...shop till you find it!

jstoner22 03-09-2010 12:39 PM

^ that pretty much sums it up, lol. seems like you answered your own question rob.

personally i'd say they are all respectable amps, you aren't looking for a huge amount of power => stick with the zapco. you are already running all zapco, why switch it up?

if you are going for a stealth install go with the arc, you can hide those things anywhere.

Denonite 03-09-2010 01:03 PM

Yeah gotta agree...sometimes you just need to have it all out there to help you find out what you really want...glad we could help!

Mahna Mahna 03-09-2010 01:21 PM

Have a look at the specs on the ARC KS300.2. It's a 2 channel amp that will give you 700w bridged. :)

Denonite 03-09-2010 02:15 PM

^^not 2ohm stable in bridged 1 channel mode....these are though:

Dls a2, 450 watts @ 2ohms, class ab, df >200
rf power t-5002, 500 watts @ 2ohm, class ab (older model may not be available now)
rf power t-6002, 600 watts @ 4ohm or 2ohm stable, class ab
zapco c2k3.0x, 665 watts @ 2ohm, class ab, df >1000, thd .015...but pricy!!

Rob 03-09-2010 03:30 PM

wow. that's more like it...but it doesnt do 2ohm mono..look at the amp

Denonite 03-09-2010 03:36 PM

according to their website it does...but I think it's a typo as their manual says @ 4ohm...oh well, the other 2 will though. The RF I know for sure as I've owned a few of those...great amps! Never used theat DLS, but they are reputable, so I expect it to be very good.

Rob 03-09-2010 03:38 PM

Thise new zapcos all have balanced inputs.. no RCA's ???
