Monoblock Amp + 2 Subs?
Hey guys,
I am looking at hooking up a cheapy monoblock amp to a set of two RF XLC 12" subs I've had sitting around for 5 years since high school. I am looking to use a *yuck* (but cheap!) VISONIK1200 WATT MONOBLOCK AMPLIFIER. It's got the following ratings @ 17VDC:
Will this work with two RF subs? I assume I can just double the subs up on the connector, but what kind of power would I then be seeing? my guess is that since I *think* the subs are 4Ω, with two subs in parrellel I'll see 2Ω@ the amp. This would give me the 1 x 560W @ 2Ω, with each sub seeing half that, so 280W ? Also, what sort of actual power are these things putting out? A rating @ 17VDC seems grossly inflated, seeing as how we're running ~14V in a normal car electrical system, no? I have read many good reviews of these amps, for cheap POS's ;) |
high kurrent amp
that amp is a bad muther in actuality, you have to get the power to the amp to get a full use of it.
you'll probly only get about 250 watts per sub You can get altered alternators that will produce the voltage,it is not a bunk voltage rating its the truth, the more voltage the less wattage required to run the amp, why there fuse ratings are lower than most |
I'm guessing you're talking about this one??
V2118 1200 Watt Mono Amplifier with Remote It will run your subs just fine....make sure you feed it as much power as you can, set the gain very carefully, and enjoy...:smilie_da I've heard good things in the past about those subs, if you can get a good ported box made for them you should be happy with the results...:smokin: |
