That post left me with a feeling of incompleteness.
I feel better now

^^^Yes I agree with you about the science. But, I don't feel that it's always relivant to use how a system measures to describe how it sounds.

Incomplete? Absolutely, I was rambling. I've been working 14 hours days for the last 6 weeks, 7 days a week. Kind of getting incoherent. Looking forward to getting home and getting some sleep.

Nice to ramble on sometimes, even if I'm suffering from extreme brain fade!

I found the cable in a car rig does make a difference. I have used Straight wire, Monster, AQ, Kimber, WW equinox, in the auto environment. It is different strokes for different folks for those who hear a difference in cables too and that could be personal preference or equipment being used.

JohnVroom, that's kind of interesting what you said about your PPI EQ. I'm currently in the "removal" phase myself. I originally had 2 processors in line between my head unit and my amps. Now I have 1, and I'm pulling that out to do some more listening. My cable testing is going to be done with just the head unit, front stage amp, and front speakers. My front stage has passive X.O.s, and they may be next to go. At some point that's my goal anyway, a completely active system.

I think the best system layout would be to have all the system electronics mounted in the front of the car. It would keep the wire length down to a few feet. Head unit to amp, 1 ft. Amp to speaker, 4 ft. That's simplicity at it's best.

Or....there's the Meridian way. Run a totally digital signal from the head unit to the speaker which has a dedicated amplifier/decoder built right onto the back of the driver. I don't know how many people here would understand what I'm talking about with Meridian, but I think JohnVroom has heard of them. I suggest people take a look at them, they have some pretty cool ideas. Expensive, but deffinitely inovative.

Dave Mckinnon, what's the best wire that you have used in a car? You must have had some interesting stuff pass your way.
