mpyre
good evening everyone. does anyone have a familiarity with these 65ms. specifically a tweeter recommendation that would work well them.
i bought these sight unheard and after searching i couldnt find much. im not very good with specs but i think these drivers might not get high enough. thanks in advance. |
Send off an e-mail to creative sounds, they used to sell them, he told me what tweeter was supposed to come with it, but I forgot what model. Creative Sound Solutions - Loudspeakers, Parts and DIY Speaker Kits

thx for the lead. does max fidelity ring a bell? i see adire extremis in your post. these are basically the same as the mpyre, correct me if i am wrong. how do you like them.i would like some first hand hearing experince

Yes, Max Fidelity does ring a bell! Yes I have the Adire extremis mids, I haven't heard them in the car environment yet, I have all that stuff sitting right beside me on my computer to be installed next week. I have however made a little box for them and hooked them up to my home audio setup to test there bass output which is what I bought them for and crossed over between 60hz and 250hz they are CLEAN! You almost don't need a sub. The Mpyre's are the exact same speaker, but built to be in the vehicle, they use different materials so they don't rot away in your car doors much like my Adires will in a few years. If you can get your hands on some, jump. But if you can't find any the CSS SDX7 is the Adire 6.8 replacement, only downside is that it's 8 ohm's.

good day,out of curiosity, how big of a box do you have them in i have read the mpyre are suggested for small boxes,as small as .25 cuft which is why i bought them(gonna try and fit em in kicks in an integra) nice to hear comments from someone who has listened to these as all i have read is about specs.
thanks |
I have the Extremis in my car. It uses a poly cone where you mids have carbon fiber. I would guess that due to that, you should get better top end response (more high frequencies). If not, I would not suggest using them as mids, but rather mid bass woofers. My Extremis 7" woofers do a not so good job of producing frequencies over 1Khz. And I only use mine to about 200Hz.
If you do plan on using them in a 2-way system, get a tweeter that will work well at lower frequencies. First suggestion is the Vifa XT-25. It's cheap and will play very low. It's a little bigger then the MAX, but I think it's a better option. Solen has the Vifa and the MAX in stock. |
thanks fozzz thats kinda what i was expecting,i ve been checking out tweets at madisounds site. in the spec sheets what would i look for eg.fs of 650hz? if you could give me some insight.that would be awesome!

650 is pretty low. Some tweeters will go down to those frequencies, but your power handiling will suffer. If you mids will work past 1.5Khz you should be ok. Still not ideal, but workable.
