Hey, there is someone selling this amp locally:

It is a 5 channel, anyone have any experience with this amp, or the MTX amps from this era? Any stories, good or bad? Thanks.

I got 2 pro150x2's (same as the front and rear channels on that amp)

the test sheets they came with said they do 65 x 2 instead of the rated 25x2

they worked well ........... I also had 3 thunder 225ho's also good performers

I'd buy it if it does what you want power wise

Thanks Dodgeram, I have used MTX before and they have always been pretty reliable and decent for the money. Cheers!

I owned this amp and right out of the box it developed noise issues from two channels.
Had it sent back and it developed the problem again.
I went with a different model after that.

I do have faith in MTX producta and have used an even older 4320 and loved that amp. It remains one of my favourites.

Didn't like that 5ch model though.

Thanks Hardwrkr, that is funny because I picked up a Thunder 405 a few years back on clearance from Future Shop and the sub channel was noisy. I sent it in for repair and they found nothing wrong with it. I wonder if the 5 channel MTX's were prone to noise..... http://www.mtxaudio.com/caraudio/ima...Thunder405.jpg

Man I have used several of the 5 channel 405 amps and they all worked great. I really liked the x-over on them but when they came out with the new model it lost the good x-overs...

See if you can give the amp a test drive before you buy...

Personally I have used the pro1502 amplifiers from that era....for subwoofers they worked fine, but on the components I did encounter noise....I have now replaced this amp with a current model MTX 4-channel and the problem has now been solved...I've seen the amp you're looking at in a former co-workers vehichle...he seemed to have good luck with it running the 4 speakers and an MTX 6000 10" in his Jeep TJ...the power won't be the issue with this model, just the noise...see if you can try before you buy...good luck

Anyone know a ballpark on what a fair price to pay for this amp is? Thanks.....

I would say around $300 if it's perfect. Take deductions from there for signs of abuse or wear.
