MTX Gold Series?

Has any body ever heard of these or have any specs. I've checked with there archived manuals but couldnt find these subs. They look pretty hefty so I thought I'd check to see what there rated for. Any help would be great.

Are these THAT OLD, they're a freebee so I'm gonna pushem till they quit. They are actually in mint condition and did thump pretty good before. Till the amp gave out. Well the closest i could find on the mtx site was the thunder 4500 series. But that was only looks, and sizes. I really have no idea.

"Black Gold" is the correct model series by MTX. The Black Gold series were available from 4" to 15" and each size was available in both 4 or 8ohm models.
Specify which model you have and I will give you the specs on it.

BTW, They were designed to be used in SQ oriented systems and not to be loud street beaters. They do not require a hefty amount of power as is quite evident by the low 250rms power rating for both the 12" and 15" models.
They are a very good sounding/performing driver.

Thanks for the info, i'll ring them out tonight to see if they're 4 or 8. They are in excelent shape and look like they'll handle abit of abuse.

Hardwrkr 05-03-2007 07:35 PM

Don't forget to specify what size of driver it is also ;)

Just a thought: it sounds like you are more interested in a sub to wang on so I would suggest that if these drivers are indeed in very nice condition you may want to consider selling them and using the money to purchase a driver better suited to your needs. A good condition pair of matching Black Gold subs should fetch plenty enough to get you something more of your tastes desire.

Schweet, I didnt think they were all that special. BTW they;re 10's. Actually I'm wanting to go all kicker, I've put up a post before that I want it all to be the same brand, Ive got kicker impulse components and a zx150.2 to run them, I'm prolly gonna start those subs with a zx400.1 from what you said earlier that amp should be more than enough. Let me know what you think. They'll be in approx 1.3 cu ft I think. I can't remember how to calculate box size. Maybe I'm not smarter then a fifth grader, lol. But it's 16X14X14 3/8

Hardwrkr 05-03-2007 07:55 PM

Power handling on the BG10 is 150rms. The ZX400.1 does 400@2ohms so as long as you have the 4ohm versions it will be a great match.
