Question mtx thunder 5500 12" and power 450s

hey i have had 2 12" mtx thunder 5500's in a baseworx box for a while and havent had an amp, well yesterday i picked up a clarion apx 201.2 and a older rockford power 450s both working perfict and i got them for a pretty good deal. so the amp im going th use is obviousley the rockford but im wondering what is the best way to wire it to the amp. the amp is rated for 112.5 Watts x 2 at 4 ohm 225 Watts x 2 at 2 ohm and 450 watts x 1 at 4 ohm. the subs are 4 ohm single voice coil with an rms of 150-300 watts so what would be the best way to wire this amp to these subs i can wire one sub to each channel but then ill only be powering each sub with 112.5 watts i was thinking about wiring the subs at 2 ohms and running them to the 450 x 1 channel, only problem is that option is a bit sketchy cus i am not sure if that amp is capible of running briged at 2 ohm so what is my best option? i know the safest is running one sub to each channel and i was also thinking that where the amp is an older amp it may produce more than its rated power. so lets here your thoughts on this.

If you got it cheap enuf, i would try 2 ohms bridged... you may get away with it and you may not.(I can just tell that your gonna try it anyways) lol. Chances are good that you will burn out the amp sooner or later tho so its a at your own risk deal lol.

On a side note, u may be better off just running one of those subs with that amp.

i think ill try my safer option first and see how it sounds, whats making me so parinoid about this is that i was using a old mtx bluethunder 504 which is 50 x 4 or 100 x 2 and that amp would over heat and cut out when powering these subs now this new amp i have is still only rated just over 100 watts time 2 so im a bit concerned as to if it will do the same as the mtx did and maby if i should mount a fan to it

You were running the mtx amb bridged, 2 x 100 watts full power from amp which is why it was workin hard. You should be fine runnin the RF 2 channel@ 4 ohms. You likely wont need a fan but it wont hurt.

alright thanks... by the way just to throw it out there the origonal amp that was running these subs was a clarion apx640.4 briged to 2 channels im curious as to how many watts that amp was putting into each sub rms if this rockford dosnt work out for me then i am considdering sending the clarion in for repairs
