OUCH! man that really suxs azz! what did the owner of the car think? oh and is there any pics?

fiero-silva 07-11-2005 10:08 PM

It was the owner's decision and he insisted that his buddy do the finishing work and paint. I had seen the guy's work on his own car, from the first time we saw his car we were worried about the turnout but the owner insisted he knew what he was doing.

I've got a bunch of pics but I was so pissed I forgot my digi cam at work...

That really really sux. Body work and 'buddies working out of their garage' very rarely result in a nice finish. You need the proper equipment, supplies and environment in order to product a quality paint job. Joe Bodyman and his home-made booth don't have the money that a real shop has. That's why you pay more for a shop to do it.

I know of a car that was done out here who the owner decided to have painted by a guy who worked out of his house, but apparently does hot rods all the time, etc. so he trusted that. The car had a fully fiberglassed trunk that was to be painted along with the entire car. I believe the story goes that the guy spent his time on getting the trunk looking good and then rushed the paint for the car resulting in a bad looking paint job. And for what the owner paid, it was a real shame.

^ That was more a case of the previous painter mixing the primer so badly that it kept reacting with the fresh paint in the trunk. By the time the guy could actually get decent paint in there he was out of time and resources for the rest of the car. Crappy excuse but, that's what happened

If the owner insisted to use this guy then I would assemble the car with the **** paint and send it off.

The problem with doing that is that our name is going on the car for shows. Im not about to let **** like that go out with our name on it.

Anyways here's the damage:

All I have to say is Damn!!!!, maybe try takin it to a reputable body place, maybe they can fix it.

fiero-silva 07-12-2005 07:32 PM

It's beyond fixing. Myself and the other installer are plenty experianced in body work. It would take us less time to start over than it would to fix it.

Another one of the owner's buddie's came and picked up all his amps and electronics as well as the car and box. Apparently the owner still trusts his body man who told him he could fix it AND do the complete stereo install by the show.
After seeing that guy's work this could have a quite funny outcome
