Was playing music in the car and I heard a click and the deck just stoped working, fuse is fine all wires are fine, I believe I cooked something inturnal any suggestions OTHER then going out and getting a new CD player.

Smell the deck. If it's giving off that burnt toast aroma it's probably cooked.

no aroma, nothing took it apart this morning and wiggled it and heard something inside so I believe its time to invest in a new deck any suggestions. I like alpine the old one was a alpine 9807, looking to spend around 200- 450 or so

Are you running the speakers off the deck power? Are the pre outs toast as well?
|
ehhhhhhhh get a new deck?

any magical smoke come out of the dash??
|
About 3 months ago I fried my cda-7875 with a shorted out RCA. Funny thing is, that somehow destroyed the internal amp as well. Anyways, I took it apart and got the part number for the amp IC that alpine uses (STMicroelectronics TDA7560) and ordered a new one from Digikey.com. Soldered it in and it works just fine. The rear left preout is blown tho so I cant use the deck anymore but it goes to show that not all "busted" decks should be written up as a loss.

it was a 9808 series Iam taking it apart right now to see if I can rewire the circuit board there was no sign of smoke or any problems, personaly I just think its a short in the deck we'll see though. Going to take Prolifiks advise and just buy a new deck 9800 series minumum. any suggestions from you alpine owners out there, must have 4volts and 3 or4 preouts, around 3 or 4 bills ,didn't want to get a high end deck till around finals in the fall, oh well $hit happens right.

the 9833 is a solid deck. And you can get em off ebay for round 300.
