On a second side note..................internal high level converters in almost any amp I have played with are crap...............total crap, they serve a cheap purpose.............if your spending good money on your system and want good sound then spend the money on a good line level converter................

Enough of my 2 cents........
high-level converter in amps are crap?? hmmm... what about Zapco's Sibilink ??.. </font>
I said almost all..............Symbilink is a type of connector between Zapco pieces or a stand alone module to convert the RCA signal to balanced line which increases the voltage and gives a cleaner signal..............it has nothing to do with a high level converter........ </font>
don't Zapco amp also convert balance signal to line-level siganl? i mean, they have to, right?
i thought the Symbilink module convert RCA to Balance signal at, preferably, HU. then, the Zapco amp convert balance signal to line level before amplifying signal.

What kind of car do you have ?? Not sure if it was mentioned in your "rant".

How long ago was this ? Did you ask to talk to an installer ? Did you ask to see pictures of installs that we have done ? If you thought the guy you were dealing with wasn't experienced enough for your level - did you ask to speak to a senior sales rep ?

If your answer to any of these is no, then I would suggest that you do.

I'm the guy that you've been suggested that you deal with - "Grant". I've probably been recommended because I have been doing this for quite some time, and generally try to maximise the budget "any" customer has, not just the ones with the deep pockets - as suggested by the "Golden Toque - Chris guy".

And as for the space issue in the trunk - if you want some real bass, you have to be willing to give up some trunk space - so were would you suggest putting the subwoofers ??

The recommendation of using fibreglass enclosures in the wheel well, or one of the rear quarter panels - is to minimise the amount of space that is required for your subwoofers. And unfortunatley these type of enclosures are time consuming and do cost more money than a $88 pre-fab sub box. Again, depending on what your budget is, for what you are trying to accomplish, it may not have been possible to do what you thought was possible.

So if you would like to give me a shot at resolving your issues, please give me a call. I would be more than happy to discuss this situation and make my recommendations for what you are after. If I cant resolve them or make better recommendations, then you have my permission to bash my stores name. Until then................!!!!!!

Yes, is the answer to Chris who asked if our name was brought up earlier this week. A customer had posted a complaint - suggesting that we had used noise suppressors, or groung loop isolators to fix his noise problem - which we hadn't. He also complained that after he came in that the sound quality wasn't as good as it was before - and sounded distorted. He neglected to mention that it only started sounding this way after he had been listening to it for almost 2-hours in a parking lot without the engine running - and that after that, it was hard to start his car - maybe his battery was getting low ??????????????

This is not a bash the customer statement, but he didn't know that when your battery is almost dead, that the sound of your audio system doesn't sound very good. Anyway, since I replied to his statements on this forum, he has come back into the store - dealt with me - we tweaked up his system (thanks for all the suggestions)and he left a happy customer and we thank him for the beer he brought us afterwards to apologise for his statements.

Yes, another happy customer !! MAYBE I CAN
MAKE YOU HAPPY TOO.

i didn't talk to any installer because all of them at the back of store doing installs. i didn't know i am allowed to talk to them. all other sales people were busy helping other customers. my car is 2002 BMW with non-HK stereo.

i am not sure if the salesguy honestly had never heard of Dimond Audio or simply tried to suggest it is not a "high-end" brand.

before i went into your store, i was thinking something like 2 8" subs (IB or sealed) bolting to the rear deck. i know 8" sub does not play very low frequencies, but it saves trunk space. i knew how much custom fiberglass box cost before i went into your store. it is not about the cost. if i need a $18x.xx adaptore, i will buy the adaptor. if i don't need it, then, trying to sell me one is unethical and unprofessional.

i don't know how good of installation you do at your store, but when i sense the salesperson feeding me BS and trying to get me to spend more money than i need, i immediately decide not to do business with the store. i am sorry but everything happened just like i said. i am not "bashing" your store.
Sales people are representatives of your company/store. i wish you were the person i talked to, but too bad i later purchased my equipments from other shop. you should hire more honest/knowledgeable sales staff.
</font>
Could it be possible that the salesperson was recommending an LOC? LOC's are not needed in 95% of systems, but for the most part a good one can help inprove the overall system. Typically most amps will perform better with lower level in rather than using the high level inputs.

I dont believe that anyone was trying to insult your intelligence, but my experience is that in any system design for customers it is important to explain all the details. Some salespeople come off with an attitude. This may be due to the volume of customers that dont have the knowledge level you do and insist they are correct because there friend said so( The friend! ). In the long run these customers systems suffer because a little advice in the beginning was not accepted
</font>
he didn't tell me which brand or what kind of adaptor. but, i think you are right; it must be a LOC.

I'm glad you at least got a system in your car - as far as charging you for something that you would'nt have needed - we wouldn't have !!

I've sometimes thought that we need an item for a job, only to find out that it wasn't necessary - was the customer billed for it - absolutely not !!

We have a reputation to keep and if we screw one person, they will tell everyone they know and everyone they dont know !! On the other hand if you do something over and above for a customer, it often doesn't even get mentioned, but hey thats just the way sh** goes.

As far as us not showing you Soundstream - maybe that was because we haven't carried it for almost a year............duh !! Why would we show you something that we don't have ???

We replaced the Soundstream line with Audison !!

Oh, we dont deal with JL Audio either........maybe thats why that wasn't suggested too !!

I think that I was actually the person that you may have dealt with......because I seem to remember someone else thrying to put a 6" speaker in a door that was made for a 5¼" ........lets try putting a 10" sub in a 12" sub box next!! Why bother.....?
Hey man I'm just poking fun........no harm intended here. Botton line is this - you have a system, as long as youre happy with it........why bring up past beefs?

Forget about it .....move on.......and enjoy your audio system.....after all, thats what we're all here for - enjoying good audio systems. Everyone out there has their opinions of what is good and what sucks.....it comes down to personal taste and what your budget is.

And dont blame salespeople for trying to sell you what they have.....thats how they make their living.....not by telling you to go somewhere else to buy from another store. Sad, but true...!

As for how you remember the conversation word for word...........you must have a great memory....I have one too, but cant ever remember bashing or deny knowing about Diamond speakers.....they are a great speaker, but in my humble opinion, not in the same league as Focal, AVI or MB Quart - the 3 lines of upper end speaker that we "do" deal with.
All we do is make suggestions to people, they can either listen to those suggestions or do their own thing.......isn't that what most people want .... a choice !!

Peace out !!!!!!

it was 4 months ago.
i don't remember the name of sales person.
but if that was you, perhaps you had a bad day.

assuming that was you, you've never told me you don't carry soundstream anymore...

the reason i bought 6" is because they fit better than 5.25". i had actually taken apart the door panel, took out factory speakers and compared them to the DA 6" speakers. the factory speakers and DA speakers are practically same size. but perhaps you didn't know that because you don't carry DA... i wasn't trying to fit 12" into 10" box....

i was aware of the fact that speakercity staffs post replies on this forum before starting this thread. the reason i want to share this experience is to provide feedback of your customer service and to encourage audio newbs to do reasearch before stepping into a store.

i am very surprised that you admit being the sales person i talked to. i appreciate this kind of honesty. i think you actually do deserve your reputation on this forum. perhaps your had a bad day. if i need any kind of car audio equipment/installation in the future, i will certainly contact you!

Thanks for not writing us off - I think that our reputation "is" well earned, and maybe it was me that dealt with you, and I was having an off day - I guess were entilted to be human now and again.

Hope to be able to assist you in the future - hopefully I'm on my best behaviour.

Issue closed I guess !!
