My new budget system ... Jeep WJ!

Hey all, help a noob out.

I'm slowly building a killer system for my Jeep (well..killer coming from stock), but I need some help ( a lot ...)

really a bit lost, got no idea wtf to get

I've bought a Phoenix Gold Octane Amp (4 x 125 watts at 2 ohms for components) ... so I was thinking of just grabbing some infinity kappa series stuff ... 'cause I get it cheap and they run at 2 ohms

so 692.7i 6/9's up front and Either 62.9I 6.5's or 6020CS 6.5's (price different is negligible)

So how should those sound? I really hate a lot of treble (especially when the S sounds in songs are all extended and crap). I'd be paying about $400 for all my component speakers.

For subwoofers I have no idea what to get. A local guy sold me two USAMPS XT4000D's for cheap, and they do 1500 RMS at 1 ohm.

... I'm considering just buying the 2008 edition L7's (1000 RMS each, 15 inch, 2 for $500 USD off ebay) ..

So what do you guys think? My total budget is in the range of about $3000 (hopefully less)

So my price breakdown is like this,

Two XT4000D's (2 amps x 1500 RMS each) $220
One Phoenix Gold Octane Amp (4 x 125 RMS) $140
Kappa components (~$400)
Pioneer Premier DEH-P6000UB with 4 year warranty ($300)
Two 15' Kicker L7's (~$900 CAD)

Total Cost of parts: $1960

My biggest question is, how much should labor be? Anyone know of any reputable shops around the lower mainland? I've never dealt with any before and people tell me to shy away from the Futureshop/Bestbuy installers .. I'd need a custom box made too.

Anyone know any shops, and how much should I be paying to get all this installed with new wiring and junk? Thanks.

My time machine does not tell me where in Canada I might be shipping to, this is also useful when figuring out who is a great installer in the closest igloo to you. Well scratch that, I see lower mainland..... hit me up on msn.

Short list a pair of DD2512 subs instead of those Kickers (if you are going to use one amp only), or even for a modest upcharge from what you are going to spend on the Kickers, the DD3512 in dual 2 ohm so that you can use 1 amp per sub. At least they would have a local warranty and if blown, can be reconed locally as well. Yes you are going to need a custom box for sure, I can track down someone over there to build one for you.

I have a deal on the Pioneer Premiere DEHP700BT right now, 1 left for $300. It will add bluetooth, IPOD and USB cables included vs. the 6000UB that you need to buy the cables and bluetooth separately.

As far as the speakers go, it is always nice to get a deal on them. Figure out if they are right for you though. Personally I do not like the Infinity/JBL speakers at all, as such I do not recommend them. I think that there are other options for you to consider as well.

Here is a link to the deals that I have running now, some are sold out, others are still good to go. Consider the options before you take the plunge.

If you are getting the pirate show in the lower mainland for install, I will always be cheaper and always appreciate the work. I am sure I can help out with some savings to offset the ferry and hotel charges.

Cool well,

I already have the headunit and 3 amps, and i can't change that.

I know I said my goal is $3k, but honestly those kickers are on the higher end of my budget, so how much can you hook up the digital designs 3512's for? And how big of a price difference is it from the 3512's to the 3515's? I honestly want block shaking bass, I want to see my windows flex and my vision blur lol.

If the 3512's are louder than the L7's in the right box, then I will by all means I will look into getting 3512's, only question is how much $$?

The L7's are cheap but I'd get raped for duties, shipping and taxes.

And honestly, as far as components go, I thought my friends 6/9 and 5.25 inch MTX speakers on a shitty MTX amp sounded pretty damn good, so I'm not such a big audiophile. My truck already has infinity gold in it, and it sounds really good, but its really weak as far as volume and bass goes (Sounds great, but distorts at 90% or more volume).

So any further input is appreciated, let me know! Feel free to PM me prices.

Listen to what Rob has to say cause he's a very knowledgable guy. those infinity's have a tendency to blast treble so i'm not sure if thats the way you wanna go. as far as subwoofers, L7's are gonna need a load of cubic footage to sound good, especially 15"s. those Digital designs would suit your needs alot better without comprimising performance

Great, lets use the amps you have and the CD. Consider the deal that I have running on the MB Quart component speakers, the top of the line PVI216 components are on sale for $300 (as advertised here on the site) and we can find a good matching rear speaker for you as well. I have 2 sets of these component speakers left.

Big bad bass output is all about the box. Build it and the bass will come, screw up on it and the best subs in the world are no good at all. I highly doubt that the 15's are going to fit into your little car PROPERLY, this is why it is better to go to the 12's and have the proper box. It will give you a highly predictable outcome and definitely be a head turner.

Well I'm looking to get front and rears for under $400 so what do you guys reccomend? I only said infinity kappa's because they're 2 ohm and my buddy's work sells them for cheap (after I use his discount), and they can handle a decent amount of power. I'm pretty sure I could turn down the treble with the crossovers on my amp and headunit, no?

The 3512's are already sounding more and more appealing, but I do have a lot of space. I have about 4 feet of depth and 2 feet of height and 3.5-4 feet of width for the box to be put into.
