My New Setup - How Does It Look?
i'm kinda new to car audio and i'm really enjoying it so far
i have picked out a few parts and would like you guys to look at them
2 12" Infinity Reference 1230w Subs
MTX Thunder801D Mono Amp
will those components be good together?

nice i used to own the 6500d 500rms at 2 ohm . favourite amp i owned. ive always loved mtx amps. and i used to have a referncee infinity sub i found it sounded very good . beat my IMPP pioneer by alot in sq but i had problems with the tensile leads. They kept breaking off. i was too lazy to extend them so i jsut kept saughtering them back on lol. just be carefull with that amp for those subs. use your power wisely.
i read some reviews of that MTX on CarDomain and they seem pretty good but some ppl say they're only getting around 580watts @ 2ohm on 13v
so i dont think that amp will put out the full 800watts it say it does
but i guess that okay with me cause i dont want to overpower my subs

well i think my car runs at 12V
so how many watts do u think that MTX can put out?
EDIT:
well here is the proof
http://www.mtx.com/caraudio/archive...thunder801D.cfm
check out that link
it is MTX's website and it clearly says that its RMS power is 500watts @ 2ohms
now the thing that i dont understand is why CarDomain says the RMS power is 800watts @2ohms

Your car runs at 12V when it's off, and about 13.8-14.2V typically when it's running, assuming that your electrical system is in good shape.
The 801D puts out 500x1 at 12.5V, and 800x1 at 14.4V. So if your car runs at 14-14.2V you will probably get the 800 out of it. By the way, careful with that thing. I'm running a single 1230W with a 400x1 @ 4ohm MTX amp and that thing pounds pretty good. I'm pretty careful with it, but I think I could blow the sub pretty easily if I wanted to (they are only rated for 300 WRMS each).

thanks
i got to see some ppl's birth sheets of their 801D and their rated around 600watts
that should be good for me
PS: u think u can blow that sub pretty easily?
ummm interesting
i know some ppl with the same setup and they say the subs hold up pretty good
i will be running 2 12" subs BTW
