my subs are being drowned out by speakers lol
 

my subs do get loud, but when they do, the highs from my speakers are way do loud to listen to!

what should i do? are they being underpowered? overpowered? or are they well matched.

also my box might be affecting it, its made well, but its not sealed or ported. the speaker wires come out of two 2 inch holes on each side, lol

05 Rockford p3001 amp powering 2 rockford fosatgate punch z(1.5 voice coil, 400 watts, 8 ohms) subs.(wired in parallel)

Your box is 80% likely garbage. Remove the sub and burn it, burn it with fire! Then build a better box to specs. If this better box is still getting drowned out, either boost your subs or pull back on your fronts.

Yes, burn the box. I would recommend building a ported box to your sub's specs. That will pound pretty hard. Make sure your amp is set up right as well.

few reviews I quickly found say that these subs are cheaply made and just plainly suck. I recommend you get 1 decent 12 that will run at 2ohm (dual 4ohm coils) to get the 300wrms out of that amp of yours.

Your problem is very simply the resistance of the subs. Those subs are pretty good, but they need the power. I can't believe you're happy, since they are sharing around 150W between the two of them! Go trade them in for two 4ohm subs that are rated for about 250W, or for one 2ohm sub thats rated at around 350W. Either way, you won't believe the diff, you'll wonder what ta heck you were listening to before!

Your amp is made to run at 2ohm, your setup is 4ohm, effectively halfing the power coming from the amp.

BTW, whats powering the tweets? Cuz if you say the deck, then thats part of the problem as well. In that case, the best solution is to get a new amp altogether, after selling yours. A 4-channel that puts out 75WRMS per channel into 4ohm will do just fine, that will allow you to bridge the rear channels and put 300W into the subs, and power the front stage with either 150 or 300w, depending on setup. Either way, it will kick, and the tweeter will be much louder yet it won't hurt your ear. Tweeters that get 2-3w from the deck get loud, but they sound like they wanna destroy your eardrum.

Are you sure your subs are wired properly? A friend of mine complained about how quiet his Type-Rs were and insisted they were wired fine, until he checked again and rewired them inside the box and suddenly they sound like Type-Rs should sound.
Keeping subs in phase is always a good idea :)

That is my #1 suspect as well. If one of the two subs is wired incorrectly (out of phase), the two subs are working against each other and bass response is minimal at best. To test this, disconnect one sub and see if the thing magically comes to life with only one sub. You can also disconnect the one sub and wire it opposite of how it was just connected and see if that makes a difference as well.

While the subs are not the ideal match to the amp, they can work properly if they are wired properly and the box is correct. After that, a proper match of subs - box - amp is what lay in wait for you.

Dont turn your gain up. its not a volume control. best bet is to try and get another box, and see how that does. i say get a new sub though. like it was said, try a maw 12, it will do wonders on that amp sealed or ported.
