Nakamichi CD-400

Hello all, I'm looking for anyone who may have information about the Nakamichi CD-400 head unit. The question is regarding the place and date of manufacturing. It's my understanding that these units are made in Malaysia. Are they made anywhere else and if so which country of origin would be preferable. Lastly, these units have been manufactured for the past few years, are there some years they were better than others and which should be avoided.

Thanks much,
Shaun

Hey,

I own a CD-400 Deck actually, installed in my Acura EL.

The deck is awesome don't get me wrong. I have an awesome setup to boot as well (aside from upgrade to sub which is pending). I previously owned a NAK CD-45z, which was a warmer sound (as it had 8-times oversampling which this does not have - to my knowledge.)

Now the 700II is the uniqorn, but it is 4-5 times the price i paid for the CD-400. 24-bit clarity plus the 8-bit times oversampling also.

I have not had any issues with my cd-400, pretty rock solid. Actually have shown a couple people the detail in sound with the deck, it is alot brighter though then the CD-45z. Do not know though where it was manufactured.

Rory

In the car that it came out of everything was amplified .the present car I got a little lazy and hooked up the deck power . Everything went srewy I had to fade the deck to the front and balance it to the right wak eh ..

The 300, 400, 500 are all made in Malaysia. No paticular years to look out for as far as I know. All the units we are getting in are new builds. And yes they are a great HU.
