Need 5.25 speaker recommendation
Need 5.25 speaker recommendation
Could I get some newbie advice on how to pick some 5.25" speakers to go with an Alpine CDA-9885 head unit and Alpine FRS-250 amp. The amp is a 4 channel, 40 watts per channel.
I want a clean, stealthy look but all the speakers I've seen have covers that look like frickin' spaceships. Are speaker covers fairly universal? Can I pick up a plain black cover to go over any speaker?
Also, will I get a huge sound improvement by going with a component system with separate tweeter? Remember, I'm not pushing a lot of watts through this system. It's for fairly mellow sounds.

The car is 20 years old and doesn't have factory speakers in the door. I might be interested in your Eclipses if I can fit a generic black grill on it. Photos?
The Focal stuff comes with nice plain grills - and they sound amazing..
Most 5.25's are gonna be a standard size/mount, unless it is a cast basket then it may be a little bigger/taller etc etc
There are a few different grill designs (bottom mount that clip on, top mount screw in etc).
Talk to the shop where you buy your speakers, they may have something that will work with what you are looking for that they can throw in.
Bottom line - buy the speakers you like the sound of for the money you want to spend. Then get some grills that work.
