haha ya sorry about me not posting specifics,i just thought ya'll would know, since theres only 2 New type-r's out there ,2ohm and 4 ohm.but anyways, those amps u listed there are great, but ya way too much for me.This is my 1st EVER system.and of course i am looking to set off some car alarms lol,but i dont need to go prostyle right now,i am just looking to power them nicley at 400-500 rms each, and eventually over time progress to better things.so i am looking to spend around $300,since i just spent a bunch of cash on my fronts, backs, amp and deck, subs etc.. so all i need is a DECENT but not too crazy amp.any ideas???.......heres the specs for the subs(remember theres 2 of them)

Like I said many posts ago... That's a decent amp for $300 or less and the only one close to 1,000 watts RMS unless you go used...

Good luck with the install.

Smartass can tell you the history on this one , I seem to recall it didn't fit in either one of the first 2 vehicles it was purchased for......

If you've got the space, it's a good match.

Good bass response is a careful match of sub to amp to box, screw up on one part of that equation and you will be guaranteed to be dissappointed with even the best of equipment.
Haven't read page 2 yet, but I gotta reply;
Slow down is right. Sub to amp to box to INSTALL!
If you can't afford a real 1kW of amp, then you sure can't afford to power the amp you can't afford to buy, so even if you manage to find a good deal somewhere, you'll still be way underpowered. Your $300 amp is going to need a $300 install to run 95%.
Sell off a sub, buy a decent, cheap 500 watt amp, and get it going. With some luck, if it sounds good, maybe you'll actually re-coup what you wasted on the Alpines and sell them both.
Then you can buy a real sub, that's efficient, that set's off alarms.
But to answer your question.....you need a minimum of 1 Watt to get those two running. After that it's just a matter of how much more you wanna waste, throwing good power after bad.

you getting way too technical for me,like i said i want to take er easy right now,not go all out full power, just cruise at a nice but hefty RMS and wear my subs in etc...but u making it sound like is gonna sound like .
im pretty damn sure its not gonna be that bad,and its gonna pound pretty ****in good, considering these are type r's and with a decent but not top notch amp they will still pound like ****.i will be upgrading in the future, dont get me wrong...like for what i have right now i think have a pretty PHAT first ever in my life, setup:

in 1992 honda accord LX 2dr:

-Pioneer Premier DEH-P780MP (HU)
- Alpine SPR-17S (component system)
- Alpine SPR-17C (6-1/2 ,2 way)
-older alpine 300w rms amp(not sure model #,dads old amp, works perfect still)

-the 2 type-r 12inch subs
- Dual 12" / MDF Sealed Subwoofer Enclosure
-AMP STILL A NO GO lol,and thats why im here.

but cmon now, wont this setup sound pretty decent, deliver some kick *** bass??
cant go too crazy now, dont want the ol 92 accord fallin apart or even turning into a rattle bucket lol

I haven't payed much attention to all the replies in this thread but all I know is I was running 2 Alpine type R 10" subs with my Memphis 16-MC100d and it hit really hard/clean. it was an excellent set up I'm assuming that it wouldn't be any different with 12's.

I'm selling my Memphis amp too. Looking to get $300.
Heres some info about it. http://www.woofersetc.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=product.display&Product_ID=29 90
