ok I have a clarion head unit...I bought it new a bunch of years ago (its a DRX7575Z...has to be at least 5 years old) and I haven't ever had any problems with it...I love it...but today I flipped down the face to eject the CD and it wouldn't eject...I noticed its because when I flip down the face the deck shuts off for some reason...the clock dissappears and everything until I flip the face back up and then the clock comes back on but the deck is still off.

perhaps the face isn't securly attached - when you flip it down it breaks the connection. Remove the face, and re-install it.

yeah I did that. I think that the little ribbon cable thing that goes between the thing where the face attatches and the deck itself may just have been folded up and down one too many times and given out...I wonder if anyone can fix that or it the deck is just done

try resetting it by disconnecting power from the unit for a couple minutes

There is a pinhole reset you should be able to push with a ballpoint pen when the face is down. Hold it for about 10 seconds and then try and play the cd. If the cd plays, try and eject, you should be ok.

the CD does play...it works fine when the face is flipped up...its just when I flip it down that it doesn't work

gah....I need a new headunit. My excelon is a skipper (even after getting fixed) and I was looking into getting an Eclipse. Wish the bastards at eclipse would start selling them direct. (to the dealers)

i have found over time that total disconnection from power guarantees a reset
i have had many a time that i pushed the reset only to find it dosn't actually do the job
and that disconnecting the power did the job

it is the small wires coming from the head unit itself to the face need to be resoldered back together. i have a 9575z and it used to screw up when i push on the faceplate when it was open. the wires over time will break contact when the faceplate is open because the wires are being strecthed so no current gets through or at least part of it.
