need help

i just bought 2 10" mtx thunders 750w max 250w rms and im powering it with a 1000w kenwood mono amp in a ported box. i have all the wiring at 8g and i also have the wire inside the box going to the sub at 8g as well as to the amp. its all power wire, is that bad? im also worried about overpowering the subs.

What are the amps ratings? Is it 1000 watts max? If its 1000 watts RMS you are for sure over powering.

You are under powering your subs. The thickness of the wire doesn't affect the wattage of your amp. Is that at 2 ohm? whats is the model of your amp so I can look it up?

the amp model is KAC-8104D and the subs are US-XT10-04, the guy at the car audio place that adjusted the settings on the amp said he didnt really know much about the subs or what they could take

That amp does 500 watts rms in 2 ohm. Just wire your subs in parallel to give the amp a 2 ohm load and you will get 500 watts. Thats what the subs are rated for. As for the wire? You are ok with the 8 gauge power wire but personally on your sub? Juts use some 12 or 10 gauge speaker wire.
