need help with alpine pdx 1.1000
hi everyone need help tuning my amp frist thing i was running 8 gage wire to my amp its a pdx 1.1000 mono block and i am running 2x 10" alpine type rs the 4 0hms ones now my problem is when i ran the 8 gages when i turned it up and hit 20 vol on my alpine deck it would shut off the amp so now i ran 0 gage wire and it lets me go pass 20 but now i hit 24 and it blows my fuses
thay are 4 x 25 amp fuses i no the amp need tuned but i need help doing it i was told that i should be running 44,7 volts ok fine where do i test that i no its 14.4 volts in so where do i test the 44.7 volts next Q is when and where are the bass comps in ontario this year thanks |
are they single 4 ohm coils per sub, or dual voice coils? got a multimeter?
|
duel voice coils and yes have muti meter

Dual 4's, then you will end up with either a 1 ohm, 4 ohm, or 16 ohm load, depending on how you wire it. From the symptoms you mentioned, it would possibly indicate a 1 ohm load, due to the amp trying to draw too much current to run at that low of an impedance. From what I read on the Alpine site, that amp makes full power at 2 or 4 ohms, I would double check (with the stereo turned off) with the meter on the resistance reading, what the final load is to the amp.

so ok i have the subswired jumper from + to + and - to - on both and then + and - out to amp that means i am running 4 ohms now you said turn off what the deck and then test where? and what do i set the meter at to test and what about the voltage out i heard that matters to and then i here that you have to have the deck out the same as the rcas in to make them match how do i test that

ok on the meter what ohms setting do i go to there 2000k 200k 20k 2000 200 i tryed them all only 1 gave me a reading and it was 002 it said now on these amp there are not reg speaker out likr most amp alpine made there own speaker plug that hooks to the speakers like normal and them plud in to the amp so i cant test at the amo i got that reading on the back of the sub box with the amp hook up to it and the deck i have is a

lowest setting, 200 ohms. It sounds like you are reading 2 ohms, which is right due to each DVC 4 ohm sub being wired in parallel. You need to rewire the coils in series, read that JL link I posted above. You can pull the plugs out of the amp to test the resistance for each sub, or test at the speaker terminals on the speaker box. I cannot understand your messages on here, maybe it is the head cold I have, or the lack of spelling/grammar/punctuation. Anyone else help out here? If in doubt, take it to a decent audio shop in your area.....
