Need help with AMP choice...

Hey guys, pretty new to this whole car audio scene. Just wanted some help in terms of choosing an amp for the subs that i have.

Have
1)1997 Acura 1.6EL (sedan)
2)1 12' clarion pro audio sub in a sealed clarion box.
3)stock deck for now, looking to upgrade in the future to something a little more powerful for my stock internals...

Goal
1) Extra bass + stock internals running on aftermarket deck... (to give a little more added power and clarity)
2) I MAY upgrade to 2 10's in the future, so please keep that in mind when suggesting an amp

Need Help choosing between these 4 amps. I have been asking around and have found that mono amps would be best suited to my needs as it would concentrate primarily on running the sub and therefore give me loud, clean bass...

1) Pioneer 800W Class D Mono Amplifier (GM-D7400M)

Please recommend one of these 4 amps, or if you may know of any better amps in terms of quality/ price combo and keeping in mind my goal, and potential upgrade...

Thanks in advance for the help!:smokin:

MTX is darn good value for the money. Not the cheapest, and not the best, but most are underrated by at least 15%. It WILL provide the advertised power. I cant follow your link, but if choosing MTX I would go for the 400 or 600 watts RMS ones. RMS is all that matters. Don't pay too much attention to anything else. POWER WISE I mean. Of course you pay attention to other amp features, but power ratings, RMS is what counts.

Alpine needs no introduction. Good clean power, but more expensive.

JBL makes some really nice high end stuff, not sure about the low end.

Since you seem to be looking at F/S or B/B don't they have a 600 watt RMS Infinity class D on sale now? Like well under 300 bucks?

The choice of amplifier now is going to make or break the choice of sub(s) later on. Lets discuss the sub(s) more before you settle in on a amplifier. What budget do you have on the amp to start?

im most likely getting employee discount cus my buddy works at bestbuy, but i was looking at no more than $200...

The previous owner of the subs said its max power was 600w and 300rms...

BY the way john thanks for pointing out that infinity sub, its actually a good price... My only concern however is that, can an amp ever have too much power for a sub? ie/ this infinity amp for my 1 12' sub.

thanks:smokin:

i would recommend the alpine or if you can find a mrd/mrp m605 amps
i have used em for type s subs in the past and has very decent sound quality

there is currently a guy selling a mrp 605 alpine amp for $180
which i think is a good price...also you could later run 2 10s as you
wanted...very good quality amps!
