I would instantly head to Focal for the front and rear speakers, budget dependent, the 165K2P speakers are astounding. Use a good sound deadener in the doors like Brown Bread and layered with Black Hole overtop of that. I would put Eclipse at the top of the list for your head unit. It took me 10 years to realize that myself, now 10 years later it has not ever let me or a customer down by comparison. If you want tonal response, this is where it starts.

For the boom and clarity it is also going to be all about the box. You are going to have an issue with power delivery in this vehicle due to the relatively small alternator. So would I recommend the phatest sub on the planet driven by some monster from the deep amplifier, not unless you take into consideration and make a alternator part of the system. What sort of real estate do you want to give up in the back? With this much back end, you are going to need some good power on the components as well. 50 - 100w rms is more than adequate there.

I hope you have a good installer to do this job for you. The install is going to make the system come alive. JL makes some nice gear, it is pricy and in some cases I believe that there may be better options, depending on how it matches to your system. I like things that match cosmetically. I would not put mismatched amplifiers into a customers vehicle for example unless I expected a ticket from the fashion police. Zapco makes real good amplifiers for you to take a look at as well. For subs, the JL, Eclipse Titanium (or even aluminum in this case), Focal and Boston would all be subs that I would short list. Then I would choose the amp to match the drivers.

Hey Rob thanks for the comments I have been leaning towards focal as well, as when i was in Toronto went to audio to go i really liked what i heard and from all the reading on the site everyong has been saying focal hands down, only one has recomended others... as for the trunk i still want to to access the spare tire, i do a load of driving 100,000kms a yr so thats important to me as well as the quality of the sound... for the head unit i was thinking of eclipse for some time, but the shop that i went to who sells eclipse, kenwood and alpine, said ALPINE all the way, I have an old cva right now and am happy with it, and apline is coming out with a double din in one week that i think will look hot in the dash over a single din motorized, but i have kinda not feeling the mobile audio bit as i have had it in my car for 4 yrs now, and just wanted sound quality, but NAV is a big thing for me so hal fmy brain is there still. Like you cosmetically i want to keep the entire car the same, but i know i would sacrafice inside (non focal) and i am not jumping at doing that. In the truck i definitly wanted to keep it all teh same, I am used to KICKER and have 2 solo x 18's, of which i wanted to use one, and i have 4 solo 15 rounds that i wouldnt mind using, but i thought id change it up go with 12's for a tighter sound vs the 18's and 15's but unfortuantly at this stage i can trial by error with subs. The recomendadtion from this shop, and from what I have sceen is teh focals front and rear the double din up front, either the alpine 5.1 pocessor, or the 5.1 he is willing to try it out with the speakers to see which part will sound cleaner. and 2 w7's with either the fosgaate 4000rms amp or two 1000/1 from JL or the 2500.1 from kicker. The shop was saying that since the amp is going to be hidden cause we want to access the tire, lets go with the better one vs cosmetic, no one will see.

And this is what sold me on this shop, who dealsin alpine, focal, mb,kicker and jl he did the ampsxvolts=power calculating for me... THE FIRST SHOP to ever bring that up in the sales pitch, which sold me. And right off the bat he said anything for then 1000 watts mean new alternator or i wount touch the job....

so keep the advice coming, i was also doing a three stage front end, saw this ona couple rides on sound domanin, but dont know the sound quality that will result

all focal hopefully
8 or 4 or 5 1/4 in the door with a tweter and a 6'5 with tweeter in the kicks

and 8 or 4 or 5 1/4 in the rear doors

take out the rear rack speakers to allow air movement

as for the box i want deep hard glass shattering base, that i am used to with my 4 15's so one shop said sealed on said ported less stress on box, the shop that i am leaning towards said thats the last thing, lets worry about the inside sound before bass

I wanted to do ported one port up where the old factory speakers went, and one port where the rear arm rest, for skis are.

LET ME KNOW ALL
