suggestions on Subs, Component, Head unit and Box

Alright I am getting ready to build new sound system and compete with my 09 lancer and needed some suggestions on the following (which is better (in your opinion) and which you would recommend for kick @$$ SQ and great bass)

HEAD UNIT

*Pioneer AVIC-Z3
*Kenwood eXcelon DNX8120
*JVC KW-NX7000BT
(I think Kenwood has best features and best SQ 5 volts and you can adjust front and rear speakers individually but I have not played or herd any of the 3)

BOX
I was thinking about getting a 2" plexy glass and cutting out 2 10 or 12" circles and place 2 subs in while the frame and everything else would be wood covered by leather but would this affect my SQ or should I just go with a Fiberglass enclosure box.

SUBS!!!!!
first should I get 2 10" or 12"
2 Pioneer Premier TS-W5102SPL (10" or 12")
2 MTX Audio T8512-44 (10" or 12")
2 JL Audio 12W7-3 (10" or 12")

AMP
And what amp would you recommend with the subs

Component 6.5 and rear door 6.5 speakers
Which one would you recommend that has really clear and good SQ with good base as well

SOUND DAMPENING MATERIAL
would 100sq/ft of fat mat be good and I was gonna cover the whole car ? or would you recommend something else

Well thanks in advance and any help will be appreciated

I would hold off just a bit longer on the head unit selection. (or pick up a deal right now on the last years models that you have listed and short list the Eclipse AVN6620BT as well). The new Kenwood is due out shortly and the new Eclipse AVN726E has set the bar already as the best on the market. If you are after tonal response, the Eclipse and then the Kenwood would be by far your best bet.

What kind of output are you after in the Lancer, tonal response or lay waste to the people ears? This is what needs to be considered before choosing a sub and most importantly a type of enlosure.

Front and rear speakers, Morel makes some fine speakers, really fine speakers. Morel ® Loudspeakers for more info. Your budget and the install are going to dictate what level of speakers you should be considering. 100sqft. of deadener is going to be quite ample for your vehicle.

I'm looking mostly for tonal (really nice and clean sound) and thanks I will probably wait a little longer for head unit. I will get fat m at same time when I get my component, I never herd of Moral but it seems really good I found some good deals on eBay but I will look a little more into it.

Hard to say you've got to work it into everything else but I've always found that Pioneer has pretty good head units, Kenwood's head units may appear to be more powerful but I've personally ran into problems with them in the past, but then again I've met people who say they've never had an issue with them.

Not sure I have never used plexy glass before there is always a chance it will mess with the sound quality, I have however built a fiberglass box (Well the back was fiberglass and the sides were MDF (Space issues), the box was for a 89 Mazda B2200 and I stuffed 2 12" Pioneers in there and it sounded amazing, I even screwed up on the box and still got 136 DB without trouble.

I'm kind of a pioneer fan myself but I do know JL Audio (Or at least they used to) have the best subs on the market, but ever since I seen the Alpine Type-X 12" Subwoofers I've been dying to try those out, as for MTX, I've heard them and they sound like crap.

Another one to check out is Audio Pipe, I was really hesitant to ever buy from them when I first heard of them because they are a lower named brand but after having owned them they are extremely good and high quality subs.

Audio Pipe kicks MTX out of the water but its a tough choice between the Alpine Type-X, the JL subs or Audio Pipe, I guess it all depends on your budget, if its a low budget go with something like Audio Pipe, good value, high quality but still affordable.

The amp well I've got no specific preference but make sure you get one that can power what you need it to but don't go overboard there is such a thing as over-powering your subs in which case after awhile they smell like they are burning and them boom they blow up haha.

If your putting them in the trunk (I would assume) I would sound deaden the full trunk, as for the full car well you could it'll be more pricey, I would stay away from the spray on crap (It doesn't work that well) instead I would go with proper mats from someone like Dynamat.

I have a MTX T8512 with a MTX JH1200 (1200w rms) with a 1.5 farad cap and it sounds amazing. I have had the sub for over three years without a single problem. I also have last years Pioneer double din Gps the avic910bt. The startup process and the ipod's "music library" udate take a while to finish booting. Besides the slow startup, it is a good deck for the price, (it was only $500). I would definitly recommend adding an ipod. I have over 120 albums on it thus far and do not even bother with cd's anymore. I have Energy 6.5" components in all four doors and they sound great, very clear. I have two MTX JH202 running them.

Like others have mentioned, budget is always a factor. It all adds up! I have over $5000 into mine now and I would/will upgrade when I have more cash available.

The MTX T8512-44 is not an entry level sub. It weighs a ton, over 40lbs!. Ask around, it pounds. There is only one model better with MTX and thats the T9512.

Although I have not heard any of the Jackhammer subs, I agree they look very cheaply made. They certainly do not look like they could handle much power. I would not buy one!
