lowest acceptable wattage for woofer

<sigh> would give a few more watts in my opinion

hi..i'm new 03-25-2006 12:05 AM

I have a 10w6 old ver and it likes 100-200 watts per coil (200-400) nominal power handling.. either of those 2 amps would power it alright but for 350 $ bux.. with that being said i'm sure if you looked in the classifieds on here you could find an amp in that power range for around 100-150$ .. sometimes people even sell them under warranty still..

most woofers are designed to run at half max for logevity

Actually most woofers are designed to run at no more than max power, hense the rating. I run my woofers at max power and don't expect any issues. If I run them at more than max power, I could see some problems. The box is what's important, just because a woofer is rated at so many watts it doesn't mean it will handle it in the box you're running. There are so many variables in car audio ratings can be a joke. 100 watts in 1 box, 300 in another.
