a friend of mine is running 2 dual 2ohm alpine type r 12's from a monoblock.

he has the opportunity to buy 2 used mrd-m500's, however this means that he wouldnt be able to run them each 2ohm if set up in a stereo configuration

is there a way to get em down to 2ohm in a safe manner? maybe parallel the coils and add a 1ohm resistor? how about a way to bridge the 2 amps together? add another sub and run 3 coils per amp?

yeah yeah im grasping at straws here, but any help is appreciated. thanks guys

AFAIK adding a resistor will just turn power into heat. Anyone know if he could hook up just one coil per sub? I know some manufacturers don't recommend that, JL for one.

Can the MRD-M50os be strapped together ? If so, they'd essentially make one amp that produces 1000 watts @ 4 ohms ...

yea i dunno, and yeah i guess the resistor is a bad idea...

no you can't strap them together, unless you like smoke. Otherwise just run 'em into 1 ohm.
They'll be fine with load.
