Need help with picking the right subs.
 

I have a 95 dodge ram extended cab and i am looking for 2 10's. I have a high end alpine head unit, running into a 10V line driver which goes into my jl 1000.1 sub amp. I am looking for subs that will have decent sound quality but will be stupid loud. What are your guys reccomendations?

i got 2 10" type-x's that are running like 1/4th power right now.. and they sound amazing... loud + deep...

dont buy it locally unless you get a good deal... i got my type-x's for $300 after tax each... but brand new they sell them for like $450+
If you check out online stores like cruchfield or something or even just google it you can find good deals... i wouldnt advise going to e-bay... for electronics atleast.

i like focal but i would look at DD line up of subs

What space are you willing to give up for the sub box, that is going to be the determining factor of what sub and how physically large it can be.

yeah that is my problem, i already have the box, it is fiberglass molded to the floor and rear seat lifts the rear seat up 3". its about as big of a box as i can fit in the truck without removing the back seat which isnt an option. How can I figure out its volume?

Fill it full of packing peanuts. They are available in bags of 1 cubic foot, 2 cubic foot etc. Buy enough, dump them in and away you go. Alternatively, you can fill it with water (if the box is 100% glassed on the inside) and convert the liters of water to cubic feet of airspace. Suck all the water out with the wet dry shop vac. Measure for the mounting depth available and leaving enough clearance under the seat so that a long throw type sub will not have it's surround making contact with the bottom of the seat.

You could get a cardboard (or whatever) box that you know is one cubic foot in volume, and fill it with packing peanuts. Dump them into the enclosure and see how many boxes-full fit in it.

I say cut the foam out of the seats and invert a pair of bad ass subs with the lowest Q you can find.......... :D

i have seen the floor cut out and a box glassed in befor
it is over the top of what most would do but

have you looked into mach5 Audio? amazing prices, great sound, and they get pretty loud off nearly nothing.
