Need help quickly to identify the year of this Type R subwoofer!
Hello, I'm about to buy this subwoofer off somebody online who claims that it is only one year old. But after looking at his picture of it and other pictures I can tell that there is a difference in the outer (rubber?) lining of the sub compared to newer models.
Can anyone tell me if this is old or not?!

Definitely older then a year. The newest type-R's (10's and 12's) have small writing at the bottom like this
These subs are a year old now IIRC. Before that the writing was large like the picture you posted. And before that (not sure how long ago, but 6 years could be right) the surrounding rubber was like the one in your picture.
Type-R's are cheap. You can get them off of ebay for 100-150$ new. Unless he is selling this to your for next to nothing i would get one off of ebay.
I waited until the newest (the ones with the small writing) model came out because they're rated at 600wRMS vs the older ones at 500wRMS. I bought mine off of ebay new for $150 a year ago.
If you can get the model number off of the back you can determine which generation it is, and a rough age. (for example. The new 12" dual 4ohm are 1243d, the older generation that was rated for 500WRMS is 1242d)
