ok well me being an idiot at times... I decided why not take the battery out of my truck and put it in the cavy for more juice. well I disconnect the battery in their... go to put the truck battery in... :S no fit... just a little to big, I did how ever hook it up... when I went to put the neg terminal on their was a big spark... so I decided it's not gonna fit and I’m not risking any thing else.

ok so now I have the original battery that was in their to start off with. it's all hooked up and what not. go to start the car... she keeps stalling on me... I would rev it up to about 5000 RPMs let go of the gas and she would die. did this a couple times... went in side for some hot chocolate... go back out side... car starts perfectly.

now with that little problem done... I go to make sure the system is working... I hear a humming coming from my power acoustic A300DB Class D series.

come back in to get some advice... go check those things... their all ok... now this humming noise... it has nothing to do with the alternator... or anything else. it comes right from the amp... I’m thinking fan...

ok so I go for a drive to see if it's gonna improve... sure as heck did not... not even a block away and I hit a drum solo in a song... volume was at 15 or so... subs turn off and the little red light turns on... yay for me being an idiot. :D

so now its in protection mode if I’m not mistaken... what do I do... I really need this thing running now...

I’m open to any suggestions at this point

If the amp's in protection mode it should start working again once you take the key out and then put it back in and start it.

what about the humming noise i heard coming rihgt from the amp. :S

Sassmaster 01-29-2006 03:50 PM

you've probly got a bad bround connection somewhere, check that out first.

Yea first thing I would do is recheck all the wiring. Did you check the amp if it works? Also after you retried it did it still make the humming noise?

ok... so i went out thier... started car again... here a slight burp from the subs... then nothign play a diffrent song... still in pertection... red light still on...

You may have created a surge and done some damage to the amp. After checking the connections (and also do so at the battery) if it continues to go into protection disconnect and reconnect the power and ground and see if that resets it. If not pull the amp and either get it tested on a bench or try another vehicle. Just basically process of elimination begins. :( Sorry dude.

****...

not what i'm wanting here rihgt now!!!

ok i unhooked the wires... hooked it back up... still in pertection... also if i made a power serge would have fuse not stopped that? the fuse is still intact...

also the car seams to be idoling harshly... i checked over the battery and all the wires their all goo. checked the grounds thier good. unhooked all the wires and put them back in and still goes in to pertection, but when i started the car and hte cd player first turned on... thier was again that burp from the subs...

Just for the sake of it disconnect the sub wires and try it and see if it still goes into protection. As for the car idling rough if you had the battery disconnected the computer needs to relearn the engine to compensate for the different issues that may be going on with the car.
