Need help suggesting a sub based on my amp/deck.

I have little to no idea what I am doing with car audio. But I put in some aftermarket speakers and a deck a couple years back, and I just came into possession of an amp that I want to install with a sub or two. So I am going to list what I have and my desires/budget and hope someone is willing to lend me a hand from their experience. This post is kinda long you can just read the last paragraph for a summary.

Deck- Pioneer DEH-X3500UI

Pioneer DEH-X3500UI CD receiver at Crutchfield.com

Amp- Power Acoutik OV2-1200 Gothic Series 1200 Watt 2-Channel Amplifier

My speakers I for the life of me can not remember anything but the brand and price. I bought four, they all came with tweeters, or at least the front two I can't quite remember if its two or four now that I think about it. They were Alpine's, I paid $600 for them, and it was about 4 years ago.

So with that information I am hoping someone can suggest a good 12" sub/box for me, as far as one or two 12" subs I am not sure. My goal is to get a good deep base to my setup, I don't have a specific genre of music, I listen to mostly two categories, 70s rock and some technotronik stuff.

My budget is about $150, I am not going for anything crazy, just some deep bass to my music. Just some cheap stuff to hit my goals if possible.

I appreciate any help and apologize for the length of the message. To recap, 12" subs, with/in boxes, one or two I don't know, with the amp/deck/speakers I already have, $150.

Hello and Welcome to the forum I hope you find the information your looking for.....

Sadly it is hard to help someone pick out a Sub and Box set up for a Car/Truck that we don't know. If there is no information about what type of box you could have in your rig it is hard to tell you what you should or shouldn't buy.

Next When you ask for help with a Sub or pair of sub it is really hard for the Price of 150 for a Sub box combo. I mean you could go with a Rockford Fosgate Prime R1-1x12 that would be good IMHO because it is a 12" sealed box and is good for rock....

However that again don't help much if we don't know the type of Auto this is going in. If you are in a truck with only room behind the seat of a standard cab. Or in a Hatchback or a trunk of a car. there are so many different types of things

150 for a SUB or Bass system is little low in budget I think when your Mids are as you say 600 worth.

I would almost expect to say that your best bet would be to check out a swap meet or a Pawn shop and see if they can offer you some limited budget setup that will make you happy with the Amp you have.....

Wish you the best and hope you find what your looking for. Be sure to let us know what you went with and maybe even a picture or 2 of the install.

For me I would think a budget of about 250 to 350 would be a good base for sub and box.

Enjoy

I appreciate your advice thus far. Let me provide the addition information needed to make a suggestion to the best I can. It is going in the trunk of a 2006 suzuki forenza (pretty standard commuter car). I don't care how much space it takes up in the trunk. I can bump my budget up to 250, but that'd be about my max. I hope that helps! Appreciate your time.

Ok great, With a 250 budget that helps a lot and with your Auto Info.

In that price range you could go with 2 Prime R1S412 RF. (Rockford Fosgate Prime R1-2x12) It is sealed and is good for rock. I know you have said that you want 12's
37-3/4"W x 14-3/8"H x 12-1/8"D is the size of the box if you want to make sure it will fit.
I am just wondering why your looking for 12's? For Rock I would think if you want nice Tight Bass that rock plays you may be happier with 10's.

However if you want 12's I think if you could get up to about 300 in your budget I would say go with JL Audio BassWedge CS212-WXv2. I know this is around 300 and may be out side your budget. However size of box and performance of the subs you may find it better for your needs. Box size 32-1/8"W x 15-3/8"H x 11-7/8"D

I don't work for any company that supports, endorses any of the products that I have offered here. I am not an expert with either of these products and only offer some information that you may want to do more research for what would best suit your needs.

I hope this helps and please let us know what you pick. There are other options out there in the price range that I have listed and you could even go with a Ported box if you want more car rattling bass. But for me. I feel the Sealed boxes would be better suited for someone that listens to 70's rock. Also if it was me I would go with 10's.

James
