Need Information on Self powered and non-self powered subs.

So I'm looking to get a couple 10 inch subs in my car, I need to know a few things though...

I don't want to get an amp as I have a little firefly with a trunk rather than hatchback.. so It would take up a bit too much space for me, I was looking at self powered subs, and I was wondering, since they have amps already built into them, do they need amp kits? Where would one wire the self powered sub to? Does it need its own connection to the battery or can it draw out the deck?

I also need to know where I would find self-powered subwoofers around the Brandon, Manitoba area. Could futureshop or Visions order them in?...

Any help is appreciated.

No deck can power 2x 10" subs as well as speakers, and if there was I don't think it would be worth the price. You can't magically get more power, it has to come form some where. So yes, the self powered sub(s) would need a wire(+) ran from the battery, as well as RCA's and a remote wire. But then, why not just get a sub and amp? I would think you would get more for your money this way, then buying some sub/box/amp all in one.

I'm sure a vendor will pop in and ask for you budget and they will help you get the most for your money.
So, how much are you looking to spend?

Im looking around the $600 range I suppose, and I guess the main reason why I didn't want to go for the subs with an amp is the space, there's not much space in my trunk and I don't want 2/3rds of it to be dedicated to my subwoofer set up.

It's more about space for me I guess, I don't need the loudest system in the world, I just want something to be the icing on the cake for what I've already got.

I suggest a single 10" or 12" sub with an amp then two Sub/amp all in one's.

With your budget it will be easy to come up with a amplified tube system (that takes up space) or a shallow mount sub in a box (that takes up space). Either one is doable for you. I

so space is a concern, and you want a pair of 10's.... how are we gonna solve this one. Oh, I know, get ONE woofer. maybe a 12". Wow, that was a brain buster

You can do one of two things in your situation you have an ok budget.

You can get a shallowmount sub witch needs absolultly no room to pound or just get a single ten (best bet with ur budget) that would pound, ud be suprized what a 10 can do. You can also get an 8 if u really wanted.
